Review: 4.5/5It's good, go read it.
just started reading eragon and i can't stop thinking of it as a monster fucker novel>virgin teen male>gets a female dragon>she wants to "ride">it feels amazing and they want to do it as often as possible
>>24887766The author wrote it when he was around 13. He probably was writing out his hormonal fantasies.
>>24887715>generic title with lazy photoshop sword>generic low fantasy pseudo medieval world>book 1 of ___I'm good. Don't care if it's amazing. There are thousands of these and I'm not sure why people keep churning them out. If more people stepped outside of these self constricted boundaries maybe modern genre fiction could be saved. It's all so tiresome.

>>24887715Why should I?
>Glen Cook still writing >Michael Moorcock still writing >Fucking John Norman still writing aswellWhat's Martin and Rotfuss excuse?
>>24887778ValidWhen I first saw it, I was definitely in the same boat as you. I would have skipped it, but it kept getting recommended to me with high praise. It's by one of the authors of The Expanse. It's does the 5 POV's thing really well. Random world events occur, and you can see how they affect different people. It's a fun read if you aren't tired of a more traditional fantasy series. It's got some good twists and turns, I enjoyed it.
>>24887802Lazy fat americans.
Just finished Red Country by Joe Abercrombie I liked the first trilogy more than any of the standalones but they were all still good.should I do the sharp ends short stories first or just go straight into the age of madness trilogy
>>24887790Pretty much what I said here.>>24887810
>>24887778Not that anon, but its a good enough book compared to anything written in the fantasy genre post-2010. Its certainly not pozzed and has some interesting concepts and complex characters.
>>24887817Everyone I have talked to has said Sharp Ends -> Age of Madness -> The Great ChangeI'm currently on Best Served Cold and plan on doing this.
>>24887766>>24887768eragon basically got published because his parents were in the industry. he does get better as author, though.
>>24887802Cook wrote a fuckton of novels. It's just that people widely only know about The Black Company.
To the anon thats reading Shadows Upon Time, would you say its a good idea to reread the last few chapters of Disquiet Gods before hand? From what I remember things ended in the middle of some important stuff and I'd like to know if it picks up right where it left off essentially.
>>24887802>Reed still writing>Attanasio still writingI wish Dick were still alive.
>finished original Red Rising trilogy>now reading Iron Gold>a mere decade of existence and the Republic's senators are already sabotaging DarrowSad to see Dancer become such a ponce. I guess Brown needed somebody to be the naive idiot peacenik but it seems strange to see Dancer in that role, considering the spine he showed in the first 3 books. Lysander is an interesting perspective, though I can already guess what's going to happen with him. One thing I wonder: whatever happened to Harmony, from Dancer's old group in the Sons of Ares? She split off to join the Red Legion, then just disappears from the story. I thought she'd come up again later, but the story leaves Mars and she never is mentioned again.
>>24887802Martin is already as rich as his writing is ever going to make him. He lost interest in finishing his story because HBO's version is all the general public will ever remember anyway, no matter what he writes. I get it.Rothfuss simply burnt out after his second book didn't get the same glowing praise as his first. He also wrote himself into a corner with his too-precious framing device for the story and now cannot neatly resolve it since he squandered a whole book on Kvothe's raunchy teenaged adventures. Side note: how do you write a story about shagging fairies and ninjas and make it so fucking boring? Amazing achievement, Rothfuss.
>>24887948You'll see Harmony again. I found Iron Gold to be the weakest entry but you're in for a treat because only Golden Son comes close to Dark Age and Lightbringer.
>>24887802>mfw lies weeping benefits heavily from having read port of shadow, an otherwise forgettable interquel
>>24887802>>24887953This doesn't explain Bakker though. Even if he had writer's block on the No God, he could still put out some sort of prequel on the First Apocalypse era and the origins of the Dûnyain and I know many people would eat it up. Or even short stories. Something. I need more turgid members, phalluses taught as bow strings standing like marmoreal pillars, black against the cerulean sky. The movements of my soul demand it.
Quit reading genre fagtion
>>24887948Things will make sense. Trust the plan goodman.
>>24887715done, check your PMs
>>24887969I think you're ready for Grindr, anon.
Is there a market for gender swapped romantasy novels?
>>24887692>StephanieStopped reading there.
>>24888125It's literally just gender swapped Twilight...when you read it with the vampire gf/highschool boy dynamic it's a very different book lmao
