does reading books make you feel elitist
>>
>>24900613
no
>>
>>24900613
Kinda. Especially reading intellectual and cultural history.
>>
Yes I am an elitist and it's the source of my pride and self esteem as a min wage manual labourer that I read literature in 3 languages and have an immense passion for art
Art is all I care about, outside of art there is nothing else
>>
A little bit as I've heard that the younger generations are getting more illiterate and hardly read
>>
>>24900613
Yes because the average person reads less than 5 books per year
>>
>>24900613
Yes, and it also makes you elite.
>>
>>24900655
i imagine this is how the boomers felt about math when calculators came on to the scene
>>
>>24900613
Quite the opposite, there's nothing elitist in getting your bain raped by the ideas of another man.
>>
>>24900828
when you read 4chan every word we type gets burned in your brain
same happens when you talk with people
>>
>>24900613
Not really, many times I just enjoy reading as entertainment rather than feeling like I'm actually learning something useful. I also read pretty slowly.
>>
>>24900828
That would be social media. Reading allows discernment.
>>
>>24900613
Sometimes, but I find the compliments I find from non-readers, who treat it as if I am some big brained autist, quite off-putting.
>>
>>24900870
I cannot understand people's reaction when I tell them I read.
>>
>>24900613
No, having a big ego is cringe
>>
>4 x no
>3 x yes
so far
>>
>>24900613
Yes.
>>24901033
4 4 now
>>
Nothing makes me feel elitist.
I could have perfect recall and twenty trillion dollars while still feeling like a failure.
>>
no
so we're at 6 no, 4 yes
>>
>>24901049
Where is all this humility coming from?
>>
>>24900613
No

>>24901053
Reading books I want to read rather than books that have an elitist reputation.
>>
>>24900613
Reading helps me discover kindred spirits throughout history. Without their company, suicide would have ended my story a decade ago.
But them being superior men reminds me that im superior, so I guess "yes" in a sense.
But reading itself is nothing more than consuming, every retard can do that
>>
Yes and no. Finishing a good book makes me feel elite but looking over my evergrowing reading list reminds me how little I actually know
>>
>>24901055
>>24901060
So why on earth do we fight so much on this board?
I dont get it.
>>
>>24901090
Fighting? I thought we all merely partook in some jolly badinage my fren
>>
No but it makes me want to feel a fetus (I'm a pedophile now).
>>
All art is heirarchical and elitist because of its innate exclusionary structure. It's just about the degree
>>
>>24900613
I'm not an elitist. I'm an egoist.
>>
>>24900613
Not when Im reading, when Im reading I feel retarded a good chunk of the time because Im forcing myself to read I have to do multiple reads of a paragraph, it takes me forever to read a book, maybe like a third or less I feel lime my mind is being elevated, I learn new things and feel my mind working these new models to understand the world and applying them as Im reading I feel so light in those moments, but Im dont feel elitist is not like I created those models. I dont feel special for understanding what the author is expecting me to understand and is trying to make me understand.
But then I interact with people that aren't trying at all and I look down on them.

>>24900613
No, I read escapist fantasy slop from Lovecraft and Howard because I'm not smart enough for the big boy books
>>
>>24900613
No but being a normal person (not an impulsive slop consumer) makes me feel elitist. I go into a rage when I see someone watching tiktoks with audio on in public. Tiktoks are a psychological weapon created by the chinese to turn westerners stupid. It's shameful and if you're addicted to tiktoks it should be something you're deeply ashamed of. I remember when people used to get shit on for watching TV. Live TV watchers look respectable compared to tiktok watchers.
>>
>>24900828
>raped
im not being forced to read, I like to think of it as another man making love to my brain
>>
>>24900613
I only started reading because of jeffrey epstein
>>
as an anime enjoyer, I hate those smug manga only
>>
>>24900828
bain?
>>
>>24900613
It says a lot about the state of our society that someone could seriously ask this question.
>>
>>24900613
I'm a 32 virgin with no friends. I sometimes wish I was stupid because I'd actually enjoy life.
>>
>>24900613
Define "elitist", because we likely have different definitions. I feel superior to people based on my achievements and inner monologue. Reading is so-so
>>
>>24902045
Post an example of your inner monologue so that we might critique and verify your claims of elitism.
>>
>>24902048
Nah
>inb4 I-I don't believe you!!
I don't care
>>
>>24900613
Yes, especially has we enter peak brainrot due to AI. Soon reading and writing will be like doing strength and cardio. Literally a status symbol.
>>
>>24900613
The elites don’t read, or to what extent they do it’s slop. They don’t respect it, nor do the lower classes. Being a reader is impressive to other readers, primarily a band of mid to high class people without real anchoring in their own group.
>>
>>24900613
Hell yeah it does. I've been buying a lot of books too so that when people come over, they'll see how smart I am when they look at my multiple full bookshelves.
I pick my hobbies to be the most elitist I can think of
>reading
>chess
>golf
I'm gonna start learning a second language so I can lord that over people too.
>>
No but I notice that if you mention anything like that people will automatically assume it, I told one of the therapists at a crisis stabilisation center for psychosis one of my hobbies is learning latin, the guy immediately says "oh yeah I know spanish" then he makes it a point to turn to one of the immigrant cleaning ladies 5 minutes later and say something to her you need a twenty word spanish vocabulary to understand, (I can read virgil without a dictionary), then looks me back in the eye, It might be hard to believe but I was as nice and courteous and humble to this man as anyone ever, same thing happens fifty percent of the time I tell someone. They just get this thought "what you think youre better than me?" They just think its frivilous and it doesnt denote success like an engineer even though classic language majors have higher iqs than engineers, which Im not a classics major btw
>>
>>24901101
My dear fren, there is nothing jolly about half of you. Some of the denizens here are ghastly creatures.
>>
>>24902107
Clearly you do.
>>
>>24900632
Beautifully based
>>
>>24900671
Fewer.
>>
>>24900613
Quite the opposite. Being around the barely literate depresses me. I want to help them but know it is impossible.
The half literate must want to help themselves before any guidance can be bestowed.
>>
>>24902576
kek
>>
>>24900828
True, hence the seethe
>>
>>24901937
It would be very painful—
>>
>>24902611
Teach me anon.
>>
>>24900990
>>24900870
Do you niggers just tell people "I read lots of bookaz" in the middle of a conversation?
>>
>>24900613
Yes. I view people who didnt read any book as lower being - not equal let alone higher than me
>>
>>24901031
Cringing is cringe
>>
>>24902619
Usually comes up in conversation when being asked how you spend your evenings after work etc.
>>
>>24902617
How literate are you?
What is the biggest brain book you have read? Do you rely on context clues still?
>>
>>24902623
What if they read more than you?
>>24902619
No you retard.
>>
>>24902624
Verily.
>>
>>24902602
>>24901101
>>24901090

You breathe MY air, eat MY food and fuck MY women.
I would kill every single one of you merely for existing if I could.

You'd do the same, by the way. The only difference between us is that I've become conscious of my innermost desire to be an infant-god-man with a cosmic harem and every blade of grass in the universe at my beck and call, while you are still in denial because admitting this makes you into a pussy for not realizing your unacceptable desires.
>>
>>24900615
fpbp
>>
>>24902627
Prior Analytics.
Oh wait. Im reading Theory of Natural Philosophy by Roger J. Boscovich.

Context clues? Not really. What do you mean rely on them?
>>
>>24902642
Man I hate schizoniggas like you wouldn't believe
>>
>>24902649
>schizo
Either you're too stupid to understand what I wrote, or it rang true for you and you feel the sting lmaooo
>>
>>24902655
Meds
>>
>>24902642
hi Judge
>>
>>24900613
Yea but only when I read elite stuff. Now and then I will go back to reading some sci-fi slop and feel like a dimwit
>>
>>24900613
It doesnt make you elitist, except if you're a narcissist
>>
>>24900632
This and same but I'm a NEET
>>
>>24900613
No. Reading is supposed to humble you. However, I consider people who don't read subhuman.
