Women had to keep pumping out children in order to keep humanity going for thousands of years. The population is now in the billions, working birth-control is available, and births are almost guaranteed to result in successful adults. Their ethical life, which revolves around children and social dynamics, is collapsing, but they seek to preserve it because it empowers their freedom (free to pursue being a high-status individual). Books used to be about communicating important information, but now they are a status symbol, for the author and for the reader. Literature is firmly in the woman's domain now, used to prove and attain status. The information is redundant.

I dont care whatsoever. Contemporary literature is terrible except for a few male writers. I read all great books published before 2000 and focus on the medium that has captured male interest and is the new avantgarde art form still in its baby steps: Video games.
