>"I totally understand him. Because if someone had pulled a stunt like that on me, filming a series based on my books, and then getting ahead of what I intended to write, I’d also be wondering whether there’s any point in writing anymore. If it’s already been done, right? Makes no sense. It’s nice when they adapt your work, that’s the author’s bloody right, but to adapt what doesn’t exist yet, to extrapolate like that? That’s just indecent."

GOT didn’t really do the ASOIAF ending tho.
The same characters probably die, but entire plot lines are missing.
Take Varys, for example. GOT Varys just decides Jon to be the true heir and that’s just how it is, better abandon all scheming and send a raven for the good of the realm.
Book Varys monologues about how he’s been preparing Young Grif to rule since boyhood. His death would make sense if this was the cause of his conflict with Danny.

This extends to every plot line in the books. There’s a whole battle against the undead we didn’t see in the show.
If anyone’s beating him to the punch on this one, it’s the fans.

A fuckload of those plotlines are filler, the book series takes a massive nosedive in quality after ASOS; but bookfags keep coping otherwise.

>author drags his feet writing books
>NOOOO you can't just make up an ending for the tv show I signed the rights over to! you have to wait 2 decades for me to write MY ENDING
The real reason is GRRM got his millions so he's happy to spend the rest of his days fucking around until he dies of heart disease.
>>
So it wasn't enough for Sapkowski to be a bitchy faggot on his own behalf, he's doing it for other authors too.

Funny coming from a guy who stopped writing without such a thing happening to him.

>bookfags keep coping otherwise.
Everyone agrees the 4th and 5th novels were misfires.

>coping
also, get some new cliches. lamer.

It was consensual, thoughbeit

This lol what did George thought would happen when the show caught up to the books they would just put it on hold until he finished?
>>
>>24926099
Martin either has to rebuke the series or write his own fanfic. Looks like he made his own bed.

The problem isn't that the TV show went ahead but that everyone HATED it. So he had to scrap everything he wanted to do and try make something that surpasses expectations and changes the disappointment into excitement, which he never meant to do. An impossible equation.

>>24926099
I don't really care about the opinions of cuck authors.

>to adapt what doesn’t exist yet, to extrapolate like that? That’s just indecent.
What choice did they have? Millions of dollars and millions of viewers were invested in the TV show. The fat fuck failed to supply an ending, so they had no choice but to write their own.
>>
be honest with me what is it that ruined the series. didn't watch until end so idk

The tv series? Rushed plotlines, nosedive in the writing quality, less passion overall (on later seasons stuff like armors look uglier than those in the first that had 1/5 of the budget) and poor direction, writers just wanted to get it over with and move on
The books? Idk I stopped at third because I got told that there lesser loose ends than at the end of the 5th and I won't follow untill or if TWOW drops

After a wholesale massacre of key characters in Season 4, it inevitably lost its edge. We were led to believe that every character was vulnerable, and could be killed off if they made a a false step. In fact, it was merely that the cast was so large, it took a long while for the true main characters to emerge. And they all had obscene levels of plot armour. One of them was literally brought back from the dead, which felt like a betrayal of the show's basic principles.

Because he was a plagiarist and unoriginal hack.
>>
>>24926218
Quality can take a nosedive from being utter horseshit?
>>
>>24926099
He stopped writing long before the series started. Don't think that can work as an excuse. The first book was published in 1996.

The other two replies basically said it all but I will point out just one prime example of how lazy and careless multiple teams in the production line got.

There was a fucking Starbucks cup visible in a shot that aired on TV.

Now, I genuinely somewhat believe it was a cheap marketing trick done for cheeky product placement. But if not then how fucking careless do camera men, set designers, actors, directors and editors need to be to all miss that?

GRRM looks and sounds like Gwildor from the Masters of the Universe movie.
