I love reading seething reviews of my favourite books on Goodreads. Post some of the best you can find. Bonus point if it's written by a woman and seething about sexualisation/patriarchy etc.
>>24926121Reading the one star reviews of "King Solomon's Mines" is pretty entertaining.Racism, obviously, is a very common complaint, including one amusing and very lengthy review that recommends people watch "Black Panther" instead because he was expecting the Africans to be magical like in Wakanda.I think the strangest review is by a girl whose primary problem with the book is not the racism, which she doesn't even mention, but the elephant hunting and masculinity. Not sexism, but masculinity, specifically masculine competition.
>>24926201The section of the other review wishing it was more like "Black Panther"
>>24926121The opposite is the worst though: looking for a scathing review of a book you poassionatly hated but its all the same whinging about the usual
>>24926210tsmt in either situation. All goodreads 1 star reviews for acclaimed books are from people who appreciate the book but found it very boring, people who don't relate to the character/story, or people who read a bad translation

>>24926121I love how they can't help but insult readers to make an argument. >if you like this then you are that!
