Any comfy space books

Scifi is without exception, awful.
It is the one genera where videogames, television and movies actually exceed /lit/.

Some faggot is going to disagree with me and post literal marketing material (that you pay for) designed to sell dolls to men.

Heinlen?
>>

Not true, but I'm not spoon-feeding you.

Way Station, Simak
>>

Not literally in space, but space travel is very important:
Way Station by Clifford D. Simak

Children of Time
>>

Hg Wells, first men on the moon, unironically
>>
For outer wilds I would recommend the short story "the last question" specifically.

Agreed

Most of the scifi lovers OTB have read all 2000 of the WH 40k books and SW, both of which are plainly marketing slop.
There have been 400 SW books, all of which are set in (THE ENTIRE GALAXY) yet which are never more than one degree of separation away from a SINGLE FAMILY.

Why is this the case?

Because Lucas wanted to sell more dolls to men, and had already streamlined production on Skywalker family dolls.

I like Lem.
>>
>>24937276
I've only read one Lem, Fiasco, and it was so terrible that I never intend to read another one of his novels. And seeing Solaris only recommended by slavophiles and pseuds certainly hasn't made me want to change my position on this.
>>
>>24937246
Okay but what does that have to do with Heinlen?
>>
>>24937246
I don't think there's nearly as much overlap between "traditional" scifi readers and the people who read those media tie-in series as you might think. (Fantasy readers on the other hand...)

Simak is definitely the best for comfy sci-fi. Way Station is a personal favorite of mine, too.

For comfy and mournful, I'd also check out Kornbluth."That Share of the Glory" is particularly good.

Jack Vance's Demon Princes
GRRM's Thousand Worlds
>>
>>24936329
You can't. Grow up manchild.
>>

I read Project Hail Mary recently based on the recommendation of some normie friends and it was easily one of the worst books I've ever read.
