Who's up for a good ol' fashioned stack/recent cops thread?
I've decided it's time to finally dive into the greats that have shaped our reality and graced us with the finest pieces of literature history will know.
>>24938256you forgot my desu desu
A little stack next to the newly improved shelves
>>24939151>then he arranged his books, took multiple pictures from a certain angle, picked one out, and posted it on 4channel thinking he was impressing strangers
>>24938256I’ve never seen that spine for the Fagles Aeneid before. Can you post the cover? The one I have is from the matching set with the Iliad and the Odyssey, didn’t know there were others also from Penguin Deluxe.
>>24939299Gotchu. It's the 2008 edition.
>>24938256>Lathrop translation of Don QuixoteHell yeah
>>24938256The Queen of /lit/ with her court of subordinates below her.
/lit/ doesn't post stacks anymore?
My stack over the last two months as I try and Latinmaxx
>>24936994Ok - I'll commit to making this a good stack thread. I read 70+ books a year so will try to rate every one.>>249369947/10 good variety. You should swap out Lovecraft for Poe or Ambrose Bierce.>>249382565/10Honor Levy - yuck. Get rid of the duplicates.>>249419947/10 Good variety
>>249391516/10 - Dr Zhivago - horrible CIA sponsered crap. Holy feast and holy fast - boring. You do have Billy Budd and hte aprocphyil new testament so I'll go with 6/10.
>>24942013What duplicates?
This is what I read in 2025. Lotta genreslop. My goal is to focus on literary fiction in 26. I'll probably start GR this year bc im almost done with The Count of Monte Cristo. Any suggestions?

>>24942013I'm curious, what does a 10/10 stack consist of?>>24941994>>24942138Phonepostards
>>24942138I'm sorry this is bad like 2/10 - I'm glad you're reading though. To lead you on the right path - Count of Monte Cristo and Dracula are ok - but really the covers are horrible and very pretentious. Give the George Martin and Ann Rice books to goodwill. If you want some good starting recs - try short stories by Poe, Melville, Hawthorne to get into real literature.>>24942111Apologies - I see they're part 1 and 2>>24942154A 10/10 will be good taste and no slop. It can be focused and specialized or a variety cultivated by someone with bad ADD. I judge non fiction and fiction too. I have strong opinions and will deduct points for ANY Russian literature just b/c they're society, culture, and history depresses me (I'm sorry).
>>24942186Poe Melville and Hawthorne were in that short story book. All ok. Hawthorne and poe very good but I wasn't impressed by Melville. For next year I have lined up GR and BM and a bunch of Lovecraft for Halloween
>>24942013>yuck Do NOT disrespect The Queen.
The latest haul
>>24942207>>24942216This is where my sexuality is a detriment. I prefer men and so I don't read contemporary women writers - unless they're non-fiction or at least writers like Maggie Nelson who retain some masculine instinct by virtue of being a lesbian (After all I bet some of them can install a garbage disposal even though I would have to watch a YT video)>>24942216Your feet are slightly erotic, soI'll give you 2 extrta points for posting them. So I'm going to go with an 8/10 even though one of my heroes, Gore Vidal, wrote a scathing piece on John Updike and I certainly lost interest in Updike after that. Outlaw Bookseller on YT has great videos and talks about Silverberg a lot.
I knew there was a tranny itt as soon as I read that comment about Russian literature. My troontuition proven right yet again
>>24936994
>>24942332Now you be nice. I'm not a tranny - just you're un of the mill homo. And look where do you want your mind? I'm happy being on the Pequod or roaming the streets of Paris, or pissing together with other men on an extinct volcano for perhaps the last time. But on K-Bridge or S-Street drinking borscht and vodka wondering why Christ has forsaken me? Hard pass!
Here is what i have on my table that I'm reading or referencing right now!
>>24942342Best stack here so far 8 or 9 / 10.These 3 books complement each other in a weird way. I would guess most of us todays men suffer some pornography issues. That leads to a lot of contemplation and a desire for something more and since we're all wannabe artists mixed in with Christian guilt you can start to see the connections here.
>>24942897Oh i am retarded
>>24938256>he didnt get the landmark edition of Thucydides..YIKERS
>>24943006This does look cool.
>>24941994>Voltaire, ZadigLol nice I'm reading that too. Voltaire is one funny mofo and the reddit accusations are cheap and reductive

>>24939151>holy feast and holy fastI just looked this up and I’m gonna give it to my gf for christmas. She loves all that Hildegard Vom Bingen ass shit.
>>24936994>tee hee look at all these books I'll never read! cant wait to post this on instagramThese are the most cringe threads. Do a flip you hedonistic faggot
>>24943007Not bad - 7/10. You seem like an interesting person to talk to. Borges is great.
>>249430072/10 I said no fucking russian literature. And Mak Frisch is just Boomer Core - yuck. Montauk for me was a big fat DNF.

>>24943329On this thread - I'm The Judge. Every poster get an honest rate. Bonus points for books with appendages, points deducted for slop and ghastly Russian lit. Those are the rules.
>>24943425I wanted to show off the neat Silverberg covers though
From a recent black week antiquariat sale.
>>24942342>dworkineww

The judge is awake.>>249440562 books of Russian Lit - you don't think I noticed? You're losing points. 5/10 Could have had a 7 you know. I do applaud your world wide diversity.>>24944155WTF - Is this really literature? How do you all get into SF - is the real world not weird enough? I'm going to go with a 5/10 just because I like seeing multiple series on a bookshelf
