Is he our guy? I can bet anything that he's at least a former /lit user.
What do you think about this chanel?
>>
>>24937219
54K subs and 700 vids. will check his shit and report back mmmkay
>>
>>24937219
No, his brain is literal mush due to multiple concussions; he’s an actual retard that can barely read, let alone write.
>>
>>24937219
>I can bet anything that he's at least a former /lit user.
Definitely looks like a pretentious incel.
>>
>all these vtuber threads
Influencer culture is a mistake
>>
I just read the titles of his videos and he really does seem like a "enlightened" lit user.
>>
>>24937219
he's just some retard who took acid and thinks he's unlocked the secrets of the universe via gnosticism and eastern philosophy, next!
>>
He gets me fired up to write, but I don't really care about his literary analysis.
>>
>>24937245
and I think we'll /thread it there
>>
I have to confess: I’ve been binge-watching his videos and really enjoying them. Not necessarily because I agree with him, but because it’s nice to have at least one person talking about topics that interest me. In real life, and even on the internet, I can hardly ever find anyone like that.

Is there any high-quality literature content creator you would recommend?
>>
>>24937287
Just meet real people you autismo
>>
>>24937296

I know a lot of people and I have a pretty active social life. I’ve also been to several book clubs.
The thing is: it’s already rare to find people who read anything these days—let alone people who are into in-depth literature or the classics. At best, you’ll run into a few young readers who finished Crime and Punishment or Notes from Underground and love to go around saying they’re hardcore fans of Russian literature, with lines like “OMG, these characters are literally me,” or “OMG, how can a Russian from 200 years ago understand me so well?”
>>
>>24937296

If you think that there are many people out there able to discuss DFW, Pynchon and great literature in general, you are the one who needs to go outside and meet real people, nigga
>>
I don't love this guy because he has a strong guru vibe and he tries top hard to sell his subscription, but the average /litard doesn't have 1% of his eloquence and haven't read a single meaningful book
>>
>>24937219
he looks like that queer asmongold for litfags
>>
>>24938072
It's funny because he has the same "authority towards young lost men" guru vibe, but at least he has some decent stuff and he's well read. The guy is trying
>>
Parasocial youtuber threads are NOT /lit/ and posting them should result in a range ban
>>
All of his videos are the same. I guess he's better than your average "oh hiiii girlsss this is my 50th smut novel of the year yaaaaassss" booktuber, but he's pretty bad and boring.
I think the only based /lit/ channel is Adeh TV.
>>
His content on writing is good. On other matters it's really a nu lit vibe, he has obviously been on 4chan a lot at some point

He's quite literally the definition of Manchild-Core.
His poetry is literal trash rupi kaur level yet he pretends he's a literary genius.
>>
>>24937219
I've only seen a few of his videos. He tries to say all the right things, like:
>both sides of the aisle
>tradition
>renaissance
But then you dig a little deeper and realize he's moving in the opposite direction. All of his favorite authors are ultra-nihilists. He's a huge fan of Pynchon, which turned out to be a red flag. For example, he says that stories that feature a "road to nowhere" are actually good, which is the opposite of what a literary renaissance needs since people need meaning and value, and cites Pynchon's take that themes don't matter. Just write plots and characters they say. The problem there is that stories are all and only about themes. Good characters and plots are only good when they're thematic. Some authors like GGR Martin are good at making characters seem thematic until you get to the end and realize there's nothing there. That's the problem with modern literature.

I don't understand how someone could read so much and come to all of the wrong conclusions- but his heart is in the right place so eventually he'll figure it out. Maybe.
>>
>>24938097
I don't disagree, but can you recommend some content creators that do a better job? At least in my algoritm he's the best that shows up
>>
>>24938097
you're in no position to call someone else a manchild when all you've been doing is spamming that meme chart of yours.
>>24938108
absolutely anyone using the term 'renaissance' to describe what is coming up is not to be trusted
>>24937219
better than most, but that doesn't mean watching his videos is anything but a waste of your time
>>
>>24938112
There are no good youtubers who cover literature
Just read magazines, journals, a few literary websites
>>24938115
The only people who dislike the manchild core chart are manchildren themselves
>>
>>24938115
>you're in no position to call someone else a manchild when all you've been doing is spamming that meme chart of yours.
It's telling how badly that meme chart is making manchildren cope and seethe.

I like him. I don't like everything he says, but the guy is passionate and is putting something out in the world, unlike 99,9% of this board
>>
>>24938208
That's because conscientious people won't put something out until they know it's good. The lack of filter by people who are not conscientious means that the people who aren't as good are always going to be self-motivated to put out bad or negligent ideas without self-control.

He's not very good at writing, so I don't care at all about what he has to say about other people's books or work. I'm sick to death of talentless dweebs larping as intellectuals. Get some meaningful publication credits under your belt or shut the fuck up.
>>
>>24938742
You have the write to not like him, but you sound like a teenager talking like this. Sounds like you don't understand how the world and life works.
It's like saying you can't understand movies unless you are in Hollywood, or you can't understand soccer unless you've won championships.

Maybe you lack arguments to criticize this guys work.
>>
>>24938742
Show us some bad writing from him, tell why you think it's bad, and show a better writing by you.
>>
I like his mission and his energy. No one else is trying to restore the shitshow that is modern literature. Some people will criticize* the specific content he puts out but the intention is what really matters.

Last evening I spent a few hours discussing Balzac and McCarthy with a woman. I returned her a book that she had lent me and we discussed that too as well as establishing which ones we will trade next
This chick is not special either, the next day I did the exact same with another one and I can expect to do the same with another friend of mine as well as with my sister once I will get the novels they inevitably gift me for christmas
Maybe you should talk with more women, that's where the issue lies
Regardless seeking parasocial validation and companionship with a fucking YouTuber is hardly better than just not talking with anybody

Whenever there's a thread about WC there's always one anon who vehmently comes to the defence, to the point of having an absolute melty, absolutely seething at any slight critique against WC ... funny that... and somehow Waldun is still milked as /lit/'s one and only lolcow, despite having the self-respect to have left this place behind a long time ago??
>>
>>24940029
Waldun is more likeable because he's a polite little chinaman who, although having a lot to talk about, wouldn't overbear your senses with his conversations, and due to his good manners understands how to interact with a person in a respectful, decent way without talking down to an individual. Write Conscious is basically a loudmouthed country hick. Unlike the mildmannered Waldun, who will sit on your table and listen to what you have to say, Write Conscious will stumble over, purchase a few bottles of beer (expecting you to pick up the tab) and begin to autistically screech about DFW. You look at Waldun and silently ask "what the fuck is wrong with this guy?" but Waldun, in his good nature, will kindly shrug and attempt to listen to whatever Write Conscious has to say, regardless of his ESLisms making it difficult to clearly understand. As all the beer makes WC slur his speech, as he repeats the same talking point as before, about how DFW was put on earth to facilitate the literary renaissance but was murdered by the CIA to keep the world addicted to TV.
"Well, that's a very interesting theory--," Waldun begins, unable to finish his sentence before WC begins screeching again!
Over time the topics of DFW and McCarthy have been utterly exhausted. The cafe is beginning to thin out, and WC is on the border of a drunken stupor.
"Oh, that reminds me, anon," Waldun begins to say to you. "Did you ever read that essay I wrote on Rimbaud?" --
And it suddenly begins again!
"You don't know what you're talking about, you little chink! Rimbaud is for fags! McCarthy is for men! DFW blows Rimbaud out of the water by miles! I'm the king of the literary renaissance you little chink bastard, you're just a nobody!"
At this, the otherwise patient Waldun snaps in cold disdain. Without saying a word, Waldun picks himself up from the table and carries his big head out of the cafe. You give him a pitying stare, yet in his anger he fails to register the empathy in your eyes.
WC angrily calls the waiter over and orders another round of beers (for himself, of course). The waiter takes his order and walks off. At this WC begins to mutter things under his breath in a catatonic rage. You fail to understand clearly what he is muttering, yet one phrase stands out clearly to you: literary renaissance.

What is it with this list, does reading mildly overrated fiction make one a man child now? It feels like anti-literature propaganda if anything, you don't have to always be reading the obscure work of a 12th century dramatist that died of melancholy in order to still be reading some good shit. Also

>His poetry is literal trash rupi kaur level yet he pretends he's a literary genius.

Yeah and who gives a shit? In order to be good at anything important you have to be shit at it for like 10 years. I'd get it if he has the puffed up ego you seem to insist he has but that list tells me its probably projection on your part.

It really isn't. Women just like to read. Happened all my life. I got into dostoevsky first because a girl I met lent me memories from the underground and we spent that summer reading crime and punishment together. Years later I stopped reading sci-fi because another girl lent me a copy of war and peace
None of these girls were particularly scholarly, they just enjoyed reading as a hobby. It can happen to you too if you talk to them and don't just dismiss them based on the prejudices this board plants in you like
>women are shallow and don't really get literature
Or
>women only read ya slop and smut
>>
>>24941592
Yeah, potential to be shit
>>
>>24941650
>It can happen to you too if you talk to them and don't just dismiss them based on the prejudices this board plants in you like
I've had plenty of work friends that were women and none of them brought up reading. Maybe you live in a particularly white and private-schooly place.
>>
>>24941663
post your version
>>
>>24941669
I wouldn't write a poem about dead coyotes.
>>
>>24941666
I live in Europe Satan. Nobody is white here or rich here
Try bringing it up yourself next time. Or go to the seaside. All women read while sunbathing and you can ascertain whether you are into the same books before you even say hi to them. The chick I've hit on this summer was reading blindness and we bonded over saramago
>>
>>24937314
Somehow I knew this post was going to end with "nigga" before I even started reading it
>>
>>24938108
>For example, he says that stories that feature a "road to nowhere" are actually good, which is the opposite of what a literary renaissance needs since people need meaning and value

then they can go read some, there are plenty of those
And why do we need to give them that anyway? If you can't find meaning in life without someone telling you what to do you are a slave
