ITT: novelizations better than the movie
>>24940184The movie is a classic, albeit
>>24940184Grow up manchild
>>24940184High praise indeed.
>>24940184>>24940203>>24940286>>24940397I thought movie books were bottom of the barrel slop??Now we love slop made by literal who writers?
>>24940470Who tf is "we", nigger?Did you forget that you're a separate division of the noumenal will from the rest of us?
>>24940492don’t use the n-word
>>24940184I just finished reading it after Labryinth of Evil and am now on Dark Lord The Rise of Darth Vader. I really liked Dooku’s characterization but I was disappointed the attack on the Jedi Temple was omitted. Though the omission of Chewbacca was an improvement.>>24940470After the films I would say the (legends) books are the best content. It depends on the writer but some have pretty good style like James Luceno, the Plagueis novel links concepts like the force to real world metaphysics.
>>24940184"Revenge of the Sith" is such a kino masterpiece that even if the novelization was shitty-it would be good. "Revenge of the Sith" and "Attack of the Clones" are the only great "Star Wars" pictures.
>>24940470Submit your irony meter for recalibration.
>>24940286If Star Wars is for manchildren then so is the Iliad, all Greek dramas, the Bible, and the Epic of Gilgamesh. They’re all on the same literary level as these movies.
>>24941188Unironically this. The other Star Wars films are mere flicks, but ROTS is true fucking kino.
>>24941377>this pulp-throwback scifi franchise for kids is on the same level as The Iliad and The Bible
>>24940492It's a spiritual precursor to 1984 written by Yevgeny Zamyatin
>>24941377Nah, there is more depth to those works compared to star wars. The prequels are better in terms of depth, but still too much filler and cgi obsession of the original trilogy's briskness and practical effects and sets.
>>24941188Phantom Menace is the best but otherwise I agree. The OT is fun in a retrocamp way but it isn't true art like the PT is.
>>24940203It's garbage and if you can't understand why the writing is terrible you have no business on a literature board. Go home >>>/tv/ but first pick up some AIDS to take with you >>>/lgbt/
>>24943435>Recently realized in Episode III the conversation where Palpatine tempts Anakin with the power to resurrect the dead takes place in a theater where the audience is watching fish with long tails swimming in and out of giant spheres of water like sperm and eggs>Palpatine claims Darth Plaguis knew how to influence the midichlorians to "create life">Flashback to Episode I, Anakin's mother claims Anakin "had no father">Palpatine telling Anakin this story in Episode III is the Prequel trilogy's equivalent of the "Luke, I am your father" scene>So Palpatine created Anakin with the Force to be his slave and apprentice...>The one element Palpatine did not account for was Padme falling for him>This is somewhat comically illustrated in Episode II, with so many failed attempts on Padme's life. Palpatine didn't want her around, she was fucking up his plans, but there was something protecting her that was stronger than the Dark Side>Because of their love, Anakin and Padme had Luke and Leia>So even though things end tragically for them, the love that they had ends up destroying the Empire>It rhymesNah, Episode 3 was far better than anything turd the other George squeezed out when the morning sun found him
>>24943448>MUH POWER LEVEL>uh, a little bit shallow for tragic hubris...>CAN YOU NOT SEE MY INNER CONFLICT!>hmmm, the relationship with Padme could be a source of conflict...>NO! IT'S FUCKING ROMANTIC! WE SAID IT'S FORBIDDEN AND THAT'S ENOUGH! NO ONE WILL NOTICE! WE'RE TELLING YOU HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS!>but neither of your characters really change based on one another...>CAN'T YOU SEE HOW FUCKING TRAGIC THIS IS? MY EYES CHANGED COLOUR!>this feels a little rushed...>[FORCE CHOKES PADME]>while giving birth she...dies of a broken heart?>THIS IS TRAGEDY!>ffs
>>24943494Didn’t read, poopjeet
>>24943497>I don't readThat explains why you like Star Wars, lol.
>>24940184I remember having this distinct thought in 2005, reading this book while taking a shit in the dusty ass shop bathroom of the construction office I worked in like two days after seeing the movie and twenty years later I don't give the tinyest fuck about star wars after it's been ruined for the nth time but seeing this opinion become commonplace gives me some small amount of pleasure.
>>24940184I like Stover's Star Wars slop but his peak material is the Acts of Caine quartet. Find it and read it (if you can). Best fantasy series of the past 30 years.
>>24943521Just read the first one and loved it.I hear the second one is slower and longer?
>>24942046Star wars EU is better than the illiad and all classics
