>I remembe the case of an alcoholic
who had come under the laudable influence of a certain religious movement, and , fascinated by its enthusiasm, had forgotten that he needed a drink. He was obviously and miraculously cured by Jesus, and he was correspondingly displayed as a witness to divine grace or to the efficiency of the said religious organization. But after a few weeks of public confessions, the novelty began to pale and some alcoholic re-freshment seemed to be indicated, and so he drank again. But this time the helpful organ-ization came to the conclusion that the case was "pathological " and obviously not suitable for an intervention by Jesus, so they put him into a clinic to let the doctor do better than the
divine healer.

You can't just keep saying "religion" when you mean Christianity which isn't even a real religion. Eventually you have to realize, right?

Islam does a way better justice to the concept of Religion, It's even the best representation of it because atleast not as commercial and soft as Christianity.

But still religion is a basis for fear that culminates in our mind

The most successful interventions in alcoholism involve acknowledgement of a higher power.

Holy shit, you fucking pseuds. Jung is not "debunking religion". There are other accounts by himself where he states the opposite, i. e., a case where someone came to his office and the one thing they needed, and that which he prescribed to them, was contact with religion. When they did, they were cured. I remember about an atheist Jewess whose father or sth. had been a rabbi where Jung literally told her that she needed to follow in this person's steps, and I think the founder of Alcoholic Anonymous to which Jung wrote a letter telling him the only thing that could probably help him was some contact with the divine.
What Jung is critizicing here is vapid adherence to a religion or a group trying to run away from your problems instead of looking at them in the face.
