I see you there, fucker. Copy of your Guenon book propped on the ground next to the seated rowing machine at LA fitness, cover facing the aisle. Reading it between sets, only doing 3×10 at 100 lbs (lol). Last month, it was the Viking Portable Nietzsche. We'll congratulations, you got yourself noticed. By me.

I'm almost done with this one. Anyone has more recommendations for someone actually yearning to learn metaphysics. I will be continuing to read guenon and ilk for now.

His later books "Symbolism of the Cross" and "Multiple States of the Being" both heavily build off of that book, they are together considered his "metaphysics trilogy"

If you want to start reading eastern primary sources on metaphysics then you could start reading the Bhagavad-Gita and Ashtavakra Gita or the Shankara chart for Advaita (pic related), or for Taoism you could read the Tao Te Ching, Zhuangzi and Leizi.

It helps to clarify what Guenon is talking about if you have some firsthand knowledge of what eastern texts say.

I never got the attraction to Guenon. Always seemed an opportunistic orientialist.

>orientialist.
Guenon refuted orientalism along with materialism, atheism, democracy, progress, equality, modernism, theosophy, pragmatism, existentialism, moralism, sentimentalism, positivism, humanism and vitalism.

Thank you anon, I wasn't aware of the trilogy, I'll want to prioritise them in my reading of him.

I heavily reference the Bhagavadgita as an authority, and I originally got into it all because I saw some of my experience reflected remarkably in the text. The vimshottari ketu period has coincided with significant direct experience of realms and a confrontation with reality of my usual experience that I have been for quite a while floundering to orient myself right with reality. The meaning in me saying this is that I when I say metaphysics I mean it in the sense that Guenon understands it.
It will have to be an independent work like it always is but a plenitude of sources soothes beyond just the BG does soothe my almost psychotic degree of doubt about my own experience.

I don't think thats how it works. Just because you refuse something doesn't mean your work doesn't actively participate in perpetuating it.

Guenon didn't leave much behind in the way of refutations. He offered plenty of critiques, alternatives, and criticisms and he does offer his fans a nice shitbox to squat in. Should one of them decide to perform a calculation or any sort of refutation then it becomes everything Guenon hated. His particular brand of impotent rage makes for a perfect addition to modernity.
