So they adapted a Pynchon novel for film
I've never read Pynchon before but like
"One Battle After Another" - what the FUCK is this turbo jogger leftist power fanstasy bullshit?
I always realized Hollywood is a bunch left-leaning cucks but holy fuck they outdid themselves with this one.
The level of blatant propaganda is on par with fucking commie films of Stalin's era or something.
This guy made "There will be blood" and now this what the fuck. This movie doesn't even feel real, it's a caricature of a movie.

Tell me bros is Pynchon cringe plebbitor shit like that and not based? Le speaking truth to power

He also thinks the opening scene is set in 1990, so he might be even more retarded than OP.
>>
The real problem with the movie isn’t that it’s left wing (boring and incorrect observation moron) but that it’s nonsensical because it depicts totally anachronistic red brigade/weatherman-esque urban radicalism, organization, and tactics existing in the 2020s on the one hand while at the same time showing its ultimate product in the daughter being a No Kings liberal protestor at the end of the film. The former hasn’t existed in the west for 40-50 years, the latter are explicitly not leftwing at all, just a mess that borrows from the history of real movements to basically justify voting for whatever corporate stand in is running. Extremely bourgeois movie, typical of an anti-trump liberal who thinks of themselves as virtuous and fighting “fascism”. Obviously a retard like OP will just make the usual category errors but those people shouldn’t be engaged with in discussion ever, like trying to talk with a street preacher or something.

It's a covert shitlib flick. 90% of the revolutionaries get killed and Leo's character gets cucked. It then ends with a message to go out and heckin' protest fellow comrade, because revolutions don't work.
>>
>>24946264
My first exposure to his writing, too. Horrible.

I'm not a fan of Pynchon, or really any post-modern writing, and the film was bad and ridiculous, but it actually made all the leftist revolutionaries look like absolute bumbling morons. Even the absurd Sean Penn nigger-loving villain gets gassed by some secretive Christmas-loving white supremacy group in the end. It really doesn't paint leftists in a good light, imo. Leo's character was an incapable cuck, the Beverly Hills character was a traitor and a whore, all the queers in the their terrorist group went into hiding, etc.

That’s not the same demographic as No Kings, or there is maybe thin overlap. But that doesn’t matter because the protest tactics and overall strategy of left wing activism today is sorta infantile and threw the baby out with the bath water after the collapse of Marxism beginning in the 1980s. What’s funny about the situation today is how completely impotent every side really is and how seriously each side takes the other: no, Trump will not be Caesar for life or whatever, he’s clearly just looting the state under banal austerity policies with uneven success; no the left is not destroying western civilization, they’re still trying to remember the basic lessons that were learned in the 19th century or they’re partaking in ephemeral intellectual fads (does anyone even remember Negri and Hart?). The only certainty I think is a continuation of the creeping repression from the state (cooperating with tech and so on) but repression is the greatest schooling in politics. This movie is a joke though in that it tries to find political virtue and experience in a totally desiccated landscape dominated by schizophrenic signifiers with no signifieds.

Never read a Pynchon book, but the movie was absolutely mediocre. She's a strong black woman and a bona fide whore, Leo is a cuck, the evil right winger villain is a horny masochist who secretly is into being dommed by strong black women, the secret nazi cult hails Santa Claus. The plot makes no sense at all. The decision-making of the characters can't be taken seriously. It's pure liberal slop.

If his novels are anything like the movie, he's a trashy writer.

I agree this was silly but that was not the point of the movie.
PTA has adapted viceland and inherent vice, the central theme of both is how countercultural/revolutionary movements ultimately get subsumed by the machine and become part of the establishment.
We see the French 75 completely implode because Leos gf snitches on everyone, they never manage to recover. Beyond the state coming down in full force, we see the flaws within the French 75. One of the most shocking and ironic scenes is the bank robbery scene, where the black girl is screaming about black power before murdering the black security guard. Ultimately these groups have a spark that extinguish fast, due to entropy and state power.
The majority of the movie is occupied with the aftermath of the betrayal of Leo's gf, how the French 75 is aged out and irrelevant, and yet some spirit of it remains, as this ragtag team manage to somehow save the girl.
And, in the same way that the old hippies became yuppies, we see genuine marxist violent revolutionaries implode and turn into identity politics obsessed libtards

hearing about how gravitys rainbow was "lol so randum!" tier with literal scat scenes pretty much guaranteed i would never take Pynchon seriously.

The movie is bad and is basically PTA making a block buster of the original Vineland. If you want something more nuanced but that still has the left wing message read the original, if you're a fascist I can't say you'll enjoy it considering the bad guy expressly is, but it doesn't water down the original message of the book which the movie does and makes into a huge migrants vs cops schlock.
