Any serious book that talks about the cult of ugliness of the modern world? The toxic positivity, the cacophony of clashing aesthetics, the laziness, and the deliberate effort to undermine purity, all masked by so-called moral virtues or freedom? Looking at any vintage photo of a poor street, you see beauty in its uniformity -- much like the beauty found in a military parade. Yet now, even in the wealthiest streets, the only remaining beauty of the modern world can be found by gazing up at buildings that were constructed centuries ago, and that are all getting replaced.
fed thread made to delegitimize cause
Your post is undermined by the cherry-picked photo and your argumentation reflects the same uglyness that you despise. You are not a good ambassador of Aesthetics.
>>24946571Nta but these are the least cherrypicked photos possible. You are clearly a subversive troon
>>24946559
>>24946594Seems good. Thank u
>>24946581>trannies>out of nowhere
>>24946607I said troon, not trannies. Don't be a bigot
>>24946581least cherrypicked photos possible? Bullshit I say to thee
>>24946606Roger Scruton has a documentary "Why beauty matters?"Just google it an you'll find it.
>>24946623It really comes down to comparing street videos from a century ago to ones today. That alone shows how accurate it is.Most people today wouldn't even see anything wrong with the people on the left side, yet this guy is calling them ugly.I'd ask you to explain to me why exactly you think these are cherrypicked and find me more accurate representations but I don't really care anymore and you wouldn't want to waste your time on it.
>>24946631>Roger Scruton proposes that there is a 'cult of ugliness' that has ruined beauty in society, that we don't value beauty anymore, resulting in ugliness all around us from architecture to modern artOkay, seems great too. I'll watch it. Thanks
you're a spiritual troglodyte time for obituaries: what was the chud?
>>24946631>scrutonHe's a real conservative the likes of which you dont seem to get anymore
while i agree that the oldest buildings are usually the best looking, maybe if you got out of the sad conservative life it seems you live you would come to find beauty in the new stuff as welllike, that chick is hot as hell and the b/w one looks like an average rando
>>24946631>>24946668What would he think of Japanese cartoons?
>>24946614I'll be a bigot all I want, faggot
>>24946559No. You should write it and then no one will read it because you're a simpleton who can only grasp superficial ideas like the one you presented to us now and we all feel dumber for it. Thanks a lot.
The girl on the left is cuter and hotter than the one on the right.
>>24946697>cuter>hotterExactly. Right is more beautiful.

>>24946559That anon is right; those images seem extremely cherrypicked. You aren't this retarded and uncritical, are you?>military paradeOh, you're one of those faggots.Listen, bud. I agree with you: the modern world is disgusting. But do better.
>>24946833>do bettersir, reddit is that way
>>24946559All the people of good breeding died and the world is being ran by the poor and avaricious.
>>24946833I don't want to get into a retarded argument, so this will be the only thing I say on it: I really don’t see how these images are cherry-picked. The only one that might be argued is the one in the bottom right, and that's just because I had trouble finding a high-quality color photo of the time. The focus was supposed to be the on the clothing, not the flowers. The image I chose on the left is something very little people would have an issue with -- it’s a perfect example of modern Western fashion. As for the other two, the car example speaks for itself, and people here seem to think the girl on the left looks better than the one on the right ("cherry-picked" to prove a point you say?)Let's be real: no matter which photos I picked, people would’ve cried about cherry-picking. I even mentioned vintage photos of poor streets looking aesthetically pleasing, which can be easily deboonked with a quick Google search.>>military parade>Oh, you're one of those faggots. Please stop assuming your views are self-evident.Overall, you could have refrained from posting anything, or better yet, given me a book recommendation
>>24946880Wow you are actually this low IQ
>>24946901Concession accepted. Have a nice day
>>24946880Goycattles are so brainfucked that they think beauty is always the exception
We should bring back sumptuary laws so that people aren't allowed to dress like slobs in public anymore. Or at least tax them for it so the externality of subjecting people to ugliness is priced in. The default should be men going around in a three-piece suit and women wearing reasonable dresses.
>>24947324Think this would be more effective if you just stop selling ugly clothes. Like how people in Japan and China generally dress a little bit nicer because the cuts are different.
See the graph
Yeah I've noticed it tooWe have a cult of sexAll that matters is sex, true beauty doesn't matter anymore and sex is inherently ugly It's all base and disgustingI fucking hate sexI wish I never learned about sex
>>24947359>>24947373Clouscard speaks of this
>>24946559Old architecture reflected the building technologies of the time. As technology changed, buildings also had to change. There is no conspiracy. It just reflects underlying technological/economic trends.
>>24946756Left's face is extraterrestrial but you can tell her body is prime breeding material. Right looks 12 years old.
>>24947391It was very much deliberate. I just ctrl+f real quick on wikipedia and took the first sentence:>Modernist architects and designers, such as Frank Lloyd Wright[98] and Le Corbusier,[99] believed that new technology rendered old styles of building obsolete. Le Corbusier thought that buildings should function as "machines for living in", analogous to cars, which he saw as machines for traveling in.[100] Just as cars had replaced the horse, so modernist design should reject the old styles and structures inherited from Ancient Greece or the Middle Ages. Following this machine aesthetic, modernist designers typically rejected decorative motifs in design, preferring to emphasize the materials used and pure geometrical forms.[101]
>>24947391>as tecnology improves bluidings become worseI do like modern bluidings for what they are , but part of it , for me is to not be blind to its objective flaws , why people like OP don't like them.OP , is still for me a little bit childish , but I see no reason why your form of blind shame into conformity would actually help her.I do think , modernity has a very interesting and unique form of trancendental beuty , but sometimes it feels like you guys could be going to work in cars of shit , with clothes of shit with houses of shit , all while eating that same shit , for 3 billion dollars the hour . and you will still defend it , with all your vigor.
>>24946559Call me a zoomer but I'd rather have sex with the girl on the left.
