>december 2025>novel still unfinished
>>24948774So you are ahead. Some anons haven't even started.
It's just me and you, anon
35k word of my first draft. Life's good. I am writing chapter 21 of it as we speak. I expect 27 or 29 chapters, so I am almost done with the first draft.
I've got 50k words down and I'm probs not even a third done. It's fun but I know I'm gonna need to write another draft which is kind of disheartening
>>24948774If you find an activity intensely difficult, it's usually because you have no aptitude for it.
>>24948774>ok OP what is your book about, please enlighten me
>>24948774you should drop writing alltogethr and learn how to code roblox games my little nephew makes a cool 600-800$ a month from it
>>24949403>>24949415>>24949509What is yalls method for writting? I am only able to make actual contributions to my drafts when an overwhelming feeling of certainty arises, giving me great inspiration and the knowledge to put together my lesser drafts into proper pages
>>24949403So ~50,000 words? On the shorter side>>24949415There are a bunch of booktubers vlogging about the 7th draft of their novel>>24950537I only write when I feel inspiration and have coffee, which is most days
>>24949415>another draftAnon…
>>24950537I've had a concept for like 2 years but no larger story to tie it into, then I randomly thought of another element that would make it a whole story one day, and I've combined those with older concepts that I've had in mind for some time and have drafted scenes and short stories around. I have a lot of scenes and storylines in my head I want to hit, so since I have a base my main process is kind of riffing off the parts I've set in play and building towards major scenes, a lot of improv mixed with following a very rough outline that I have in my head. In my edit or rewrite or whatever I plan on really streamlining everything
>>24948774>119.5k words>roughly 15k left>no progress since AugustI'm supposed to get back to it next week once my finals are over, but I still have no idea how I'm gonna end this thing.
>>24948774I was just thinking about getting back into writing since the holiday season is upon us. But at least you started something. What I am going to try is just do short works. Rather than trying to do a magnum opus which will never happen until far in the future. I also always sputter off around 50k words anyway.
>published a short story collection last october>hung up on a fanfic I haven't finished in 3 yearsI am God's silliest punchline.
>>24949403The last 10% is the most difficult and longest part, anon.

>>24950537The strongest motivation ive had after a real bad rut was listening to Robert Rodriguez's recent appearance on Rogan. His outlook on life is fascinating, and infectious. Got more writing done than I have in a long while after listening to that.https://youtu.be/KxGtxPV1xoc?si=17WdXC5wyld5tDRv
