I heard this guy got in trouble with faggots because it came out he was a Catholic so I picked up the first book in his series to check it out. So far it's been>setting ripped straight from Dune down to the shield belt swordplayok, whatever Dune is cool>diversity fucking everywhereNo, not in the cool worldbuilding way, in the "look here's another guy that's randomly a difference race for no reason even when logically everyone here should look the same" way, but whatever it's a book in the current year.>women as bodyguards and arena fightersThis is beginning to get seriously immersion-breaking. Have you ever rolled with a woman? It's really unfair, even girls that far outclass me in skill I cannot lose to since I can simply power out of whatever they do. >faggots fucking everywhereYuck, and the themes are all>feudalism bad>corporal punishment bad>organized religion bad>religion in general fakeDoes this series ever become chuddy? Is this guy actually even religious? I'm at a point where the main character is meeting with a black and gay space noble in a gay marriage with kids and the space alien is a hermaphrodite. I think I'm out man, I've had enough of this. I'm not that picky, if it was just a few of these things I wouldn't mind but this is getting out of hand and the core themes have literally the opposite lessons of what I expected.
Sounds just like what Francis and Leo wanted
>>24956775>diversity fucking everywhereI mean in a future space empire thats like twenty thousand years into the future thats not so fucking strange is it? and having read book 2 I know there are specificaly people that are geneticaly engineered to be TREES.>women as bodyguards and arena fightersThis is gay without a doubt.>feudalism bad>corporal punishment bad>organized religion bad>religion in general fakeFrom what I know. The story actually ends up with all of these being le good actually in the end. I havent read all the books but I know the spoilers. He basically becomes space jesus and a prophet of the "real" god in that verse complete with literal jesus like revival powers and space magic.
>>24956864>I mean in a future space empire thats like twenty thousand years into the future thats not so fucking strange is it? Just vibes man, you can kinda tell when someone is like>it would make sense for the planetbound peasants who have been living on this backwater that only has a single large city for human habitation for two thousand years to look like thisversus feeling more like>This guy is black for the casting in my future amazon/netflix tv special that will surely happen someday and make me richThis is a relatively minor issue compared to the others though.Anyway, think it's worth continuing?
>>24956898I only read the first two so havent gotten around to reading more of it yet. Can say that book two is a significant improvment over the first but still a bit to slow for my own personal taste. The worldbuilding and story does get more compelling but it takes a fucking while still. Book two takes until about 50% mark or so until it starts getting actually juicy.>This guy is black for the casting in my future amazon/netflix tv special that will surely happen someday and make me richI feel like some of this is more or less "mandated" by the publisher and not something the author really cares about enough to say no. And you know since its a book you can always just picture the black guy as a white guy in your head nothing can stop you.
>>24956775>Anon discovers christianity is uber-leftist
>>24956775>Does this series ever become chuddy?Kinda. The faggotry and "religion bad" stuff goes away, but not the niggers and le cool women.
>>24957185>>24956775The author wasn't Christian when he wrote the first book. He became Christian during the revision process. By the third book it's pretty obvious that he is way more of a traditionalist trying to work around the more progressive stuff he set up in the first book. I have read the first three books, and probably won't continue for a while, but the second half of book 2 and all of book 3 are genuinely pretty good.
>>24956775>>corporal punishment bad>>organized religion bad>>religion in general fakeAll of these positions are simply correct, but works that emphasize them too hard are fucking embarrassing.
>>24958088Huh interesting. I will definitely continue reading then, thanks. Just gotta power through the gay.
>>24956775I heard booktubers mention Christofascist so I was intrigued about the series.>>24958088Ah okay maybe I'll hold out. I did hear his third book was the best of them so that gives me hope.I did hear was tied to whims of his publisher for stuff like pagecount forcing padding so maybe some of the woke stuff was part of that to try and make it more commercial.
>>24956775>religion in general fakeThis is the one thing you cannot fault Ruocchio for. Catholicism is real and true in Sun-Eater and anyone who isn't a tradcath will go to Hell when they die. Hadrian is literally chosen by God and is visited by angels.
>>24956775>>feudalism bad>>corporal punishment bad>>organized religion bad>>religion in general fake...yes?
>>24958828>feudalism badPleb mindset. Superior people are born superior for a reason.>corporal punishment badCriminal mindset. The innocent have nothing to fear from even the harshest justice and those who wish for penalties to be eased likely harbor criminal intentions themeslves.>organized religion badDegenerate mindset. Objective morals exist and those who feel guilty in their own (usually sexual) sins lash out that religion for condemning them.>religion in general fakeSee above. God exists and only those who feel afraid of judgement deny Him.

>>24958846I will pray for you but unless you come to Christ and accept the Mother Church's teachings you'll wish you were a slave being eaten by the cielcin because Hell is so much worse
>>24958866Wow, when you put it like that I guess being a lobotomized golem isn't too bad after all.
