I can't take America seriously. Everything about it is a joke. The next village over has about 6 residents and a farm, and it just turned 875 years old.

really disliking the anon who keeps making these threads with boring abstract painting OPs. i think it’d be interesting for people to be more imaginative. would like to see an aloof, apropos of nothing pic of something unrelated, a screenshot of the french open you saved for no reason, a random pic from your camera roll, a blurry photo you took that morning.

I decided to class the place up. Kidding. I never wanted to start making the threads at all but no one else was, and it made me sad to see people make long, heartfelt effortposts in a thread far past the bump limit which no one would see. You're free to make the next one with whatever OP you like once this one hits the bump limit and page 5.

In the first place, lest a blind man deny it to you, of all bodies in the universe the most excellent is the sun, whose essence is nothing less than the purest light, than which there is no greater star: which single and alone is the producer, conserver, and warmer of all things: it is a fountain of light, rich in fruitful heat and most fair, limpid, and pure to the sight, the source of vision, portrayer of all color, called king of the planets for his motion, heart of the world for his power, its eye for his beauty, and which alone we should judge worthy of the Most High God, should he be pleased with a material domicile and chose a place in which to dwell with the blessed angels.

Don Quixote is like if shakespeare wrote a single play and then nobody else wrote anything again and the entire international English community pinned its entire corpus on that single work and if you asked for anything else they call you a philistine for wanting anything more than that single play.
>>
>>24957605
More like if Shakespeare had dedicated himself to a voluminous, singular epic poem, in which case the praise could be justified (see: Virgil, Homer, Milton, Dante).

Kirk was just a normiecon drone who was the "demoncraps are the racists!!!" guy for a decade, then said the term "great replacement" a few times towards the end, likely only because he saw the tide shifting. I hope he's at peace but not sure why any serious White Identarian would really care much about him - from a logistical point now that he's gone someone like Fuentes can take the helm and actually wake young White men up beyond just leading them astray with GOP filth for financial gain. Saddening that the bulk of his life was spent attacking young patriotic white men just for some troonfucker to go and smoke him lmfao

not to dissimilar to where I was 2 weeks ago. Start with something easy, like a sub 300 page novel that isn't a challenging old classic. "my year of rest and relaxation" was the one I picked because I knew it'd be a breeze to get through and it's modern. Get a short stories compilation for when that's done so you get in the habit of focusing during exposition.

After that I read "to the lighthouse" by virginia woolf, but instead of just raw dogging it I took my time. After every chapter I went on sparknotes and litcharts and read the summaries/analysis for each chapter, pretty much so I could compare what I was comprehending vs what I was supposed to comprehend. The first few chapters this was super helpful, there was a lot that I wasn't picking up on, but by the midway point I was still reading the summaries/analyses for each chapter, but I was picking up on pretty much everything. It's a kind of weird book because it's written "stream of consciousness", so maybe for some it wouldn't be the right classic to dive into, but it was perfect for me. I really got a lot out of that book and it kind of reframed what I thought a novel could be.

I've read 3 books since then and I'm getting through them pretty breezy, but point is I'm fully in the habit. I read for a few hours every night. The last one I read was the new miranda july, "all fours" and I did the whole ~400 pages in 3 sittings and had a great time. It's pretty queer, has some gender stuff in there, it's pretty sexual, and it's probably aimed for aging women so idk if that's ur bag, but I'm a straight white guy and loved it. If that stuff's not a turn off I'd rec it.

anyway you can do it bro, just don't force yourself to slog thru some boring classic if you're not ready. And if you do, take your time and read up on sparknotes/litcharts about what you just read so it sinks in better and helps you comprehend the old ass language.

A lot of time I use art from other people, so I keep them for personal use, but I just like making them anyway.

Did you know that almost no scientific papers are translated into Arabic? Did you also know that Spain has one of the lowest translation rates for Scientific Papers in Europe? And did you know that even with that low rate of translation in Spain its still 10 times more than the whole Arabic speaking world combined? Which means that the Arab world translates around only 100 scientific papers a year, that kinda blew my mind when I learned that.
Also, I hate to be mean but I think the Spanish Language just does something to the human mind where creativity just dies. French does the same thing where they are all assholes because hearing French all the time probably drives them insane. Or like how Germans never smile or laugh because their language is very stark and depressing sounding, even when they are happy. I also think the flexibility of the language is also really important for creativity and expressing it, which is why Russian, French, and English have stronger writing traditions than Spain or Portugal has.
>>
>>24958087
You reflect my experience. Spanish really isn't very enjoyable to me thus far. I'm open for exceptions. But right now I wish I was bilingual in another language. Maybe my Spanish descent explains my low intellect and capability.

Then you should try it. Don Quixote rants about justice, honor and courage, and Sancho's delight in the small pleasures of life, his wine and bacon, are some of the best prose ever written in Spanish.

I find that more genuine than french or russian writers having existential crises
>>
>>24958251
Reflexively my answer would be the latter, because the former are inherently modernist, mass movements, but the answer isn't that simple, for you can easily have a monarchy with a progressive society.

Alcohol abuse in men is quirky.
Alcohol abuse in women looks retarded.
Why is that?
>>
>>24958373
Because statistically women abuse alcohol to a higher rate than men do and once you take gender differences into account women tend to be more irresponsible with how much they intake compared to men

This old, aggressive, snarling, rude, old black man has taken up hanging out in the same area of the library where I like to read. There's tons of drug addicts and homeless people and unwashed refuse types who hang out there, that's whatever, I have no issue with that. What separates this guy is he watches his videos on his phone on a volume loud enough to where others can hear, and he's even rolled up a joint at the table, causing the entire area to smell like weed. Then, when he saw me looking at him for this, it must have set him off because he started mumbling all kinds of profanities and aggressions -- to me or in general? not sure, I was definitely ready for it to become violent but I just looked away until he left and fortunately it didn't.

Anyway, it's really pissing me off having this guy around, because he's causing other normal, kind people to stay away from the area as well, and silly as it sounds, I like reading around people. Guess I'll have to start reading in a different part of the library... lame.
>>
>>24958439
Report him to the police
>>
>>24958443
There are a couple security guards they have for the place, and the staff are usually good at catching people eating or watching videos too loud. I guess I'll just have to deal with it unless he fully crosses the line at some point. Hopefully he moves to a different area.
>>
i'm incredibly boring and i don't have anything going on in my life or any experiences to share with others so when someone polite enough to try and start a conversation with me i just avoid talking about myself and i just ask the person clarifying questions to seem like i'm present but i don't have any feelings or thoughts about what's happening. then this sort of artificial politeness of mine after a few minutes starts to strain the other person's capacity to sustain their politeness and then i start to get anxious that they'll think i'm a vacuous douchebag and so i try to find a way to terminate the interaction somehow but i am autistic and i don't know when conversations are supposed to close so in aggregate i quickly become the creep/loser that floats around the perimeter.

i have no personality, however, paradoxically, apprising people of that is socially repulsive and comes off as a narcissistic defense mechanism but not apprising people of this just results in them perceiving you as retarded or boring.

so every social interaction just turns into pain no matter what and drives me further away from everything. the only time i can have a conversation is within an artificial context ie. a therapist. i can't even escape and be alone because i have no hobby or even curiosity. then the response to all this is that i can't have no personality because i exhibit self-awareness but your own self-awareness isn't something you can actually use as a substrate to communicate, it's just results in narcissism. but then if i try to accept this as just who i am then people have justification to treat me like a loser. i'm a mentally ill ragdoll. im completely alone. what the fuck am i supposed to do
