>>24962573The best parts of Ulysses are better than anything in GR, but some chapters of Ulysses are a slog (Oxen of the sun, and the first chapter of part 3 in particular).Gravitys Rainbow is really great despite the fact that it is more about ideas that it is characters. It is such a rich book in terms of craft and theme, and the Polker chapter alone would make it a masterpiece I really didn't like infinite jest. It is the only book of the three that I don't think I will ever return to. Wallace's writing is really sloppy, and a lot of the book is just glorified self help bullshit. Some chapters could stand alone as decent short stories but for the most part the book is a 1100 page mess that only got published because his essays already made him a literary darling
