Have you read every page of the meme trilogy? If so, which was best?

I’ll never read the reddit trinity. Add Reddit Meridian to the list too.

Ever since I fell for the dragon's dogma meme from /v/ years ago I make a point to avoid any work that a special interest board shitposts over and over.
>>
>>24962619
But board culture is better than just repeating twitter hot takes and posting twitter screenshots ad infinitum. Memes make this place what it is, or used to be.
>>
>>24962573
I read Ulysses and the first 300 pages of GR. So far:
Sirens & Circe > GR > the rest of Ulysses
>>
>>24962619
Now this is some serious shit taste
>>
>>24962573
Unironically great books, don't get discouraged by retards here who shitpost

They're masterworks, all. You can't go wrong.

Ulysses > GR > IJ

>>24962619
I have a similar policy. Corollarily, any work they incessantly countersignal is worth checking out.
>>
>>24962573
I've only read IJ and U

Ulysses is obviously the best.
Gravity's rainbow is fun, but superficial.
Nobody bothers with Infinite Jest, because Wallace is a burger with no reputation in the civilised world.

>>24963010
>Notes from Underground
>A Song of Ice and Fire
>The Bible
Choose your board wisely, anon. I for one did not.
>>
I read
> Around 75% of Ulysses
> 60% of Gravity's Rainbow
> 15% of Infinite Jest
And only understood about uhhhhhhh 10% of what I read.
Does anyone feel bad for me?

>Nobody bothers with Infinite Jest
Maybe not in the current year, but /lit/ like /mu/ successfully forced their "meme" picks to be treated like gospel while the shill campaigns were still active. /mu/-core still survives through RYM, and it seems the /lit/picks are still canon in Reddit.

What explains this behaviour? I think that online communities gravitate to an idea that they need to be authoritative if they want to legitimatise themselves as part of a hobby. It comes more from how self-identity works in a group of people, rather than just being irony or internet bullshit. It's kinda strange and I guess it's how any organised religion or social grouping functions. Do you think anthropologists will study how the internet made canonical lists of favourite works?

Filtered.

>>24964423
Explain what's deep about Gravity's Rainbow. I'll wait.
>>
>>24963010
It's the exact same because /lit/ is a reddit colony.
>>
>>24965533
I've been posting on 4chan since 2007 and I've never once been to Reddit.
>>
>>24965546
That's exactly what a redditor would say
>>
>>24962573
I've read all of them AND I recited Finnegans Wake as I read it
>>

The best parts of Ulysses are better than anything in GR, but some chapters of Ulysses are a slog (Oxen of the sun, and the first chapter of part 3 in particular).

Gravitys Rainbow is really great despite the fact that it is more about ideas that it is characters. It is such a rich book in terms of craft and theme, and the Polker chapter alone would make it a masterpiece

I really didn't like infinite jest. It is the only book of the three that I don't think I will ever return to. Wallace's writing is really sloppy, and a lot of the book is just glorified self help bullshit. Some chapters could stand alone as decent short stories but for the most part the book is a 1100 page mess that only got published because his essays already made him a literary darling

I enjoyed the hilarious world of Infinite Jest and the novelty of hundreds of footnotes

>the christcuckery book
Never ever. Christians just spam every board now.
No religious text would be a real top 3.
