What are the "edgiest" novels?

Hard Mode: They have to actually be good (pic related)
>>
>>24964311
Back in the day Wikipedia used to portray 'A Rebours' as such a work.
>>
>>24964311
Story of the Eye fits pretty well but I dunno if it surpasses 120 Days in its perversion.

Why did he have to put all the sick, depraved shit into a glossary at the END of the novel? It makes the narrative ten times more boring and a thousand times more repetitive.

120 Days of Sodom may just be the shittiest book I've ever read and this isn't my first rodeo. I've read shit like Cow and Hogg.
>>
>>24964830
It's a draft you fucking idiot
>>
>>24964311
>de Sade
>good
Fucking hell, imagine thinking that. Embarrassing.
>>
>>24964972
Shut up, cunt.
>>
Why are people obsessed with what is objectively Sade's worst work?
>>
>>24964311
The Torture Garden
>have to be good
Nvm then
>>
>They have to actually be good (pic related)
120 Days of Sodom is objectively fucking AWFUL you fucking LOON.
>>
Why did they ever make a movie of this? They cut out all the gruesome shit.
>>

Edgy as in cringe edgy or edgy as in extremely fucked up? If the latter, then The Second Apocalypse series by R Scott Bakker. Nothing comes close.
>>
>>24965041
>Bakker
>Nothing comes close
LMAOOOOOO...
>>
Just read Hogg. It's got everything you'd ever want OP.

There used to be a »dark and disturbing« chart.
>>
>>24965060
The chart is lost media now?
>>
>>24965085
Not likely. Would be where the other charts are, post the old wiki; and easily findable on warosu. But I don't see it posted often anymore, and don't have it at hand.
>>

>Edgy as in cringe edgy or edgy as in extremely fucked up?
What's the difference?
>>
edgy = goes against social norms in a way (you) don't like
>>
It's called "transgressive literature"
>>
>>24965041
Verily, my good sir
>>
>>24964311
Probably most of Clive Barkers novels.

The Playground is also pretty high up there when it comes to edgy.
Really most things in the "Extreme Horror"/Splatter Punk sub-genera.
>>
>>24965103
No it's not.
That is just you being bad faith.
>>
>>24965044
Do tell us what else comes anywhere close to peak levels of fucked up?
>>
>>24965399
Hogg
>>
The Da Vinci Code
>>
>>24964430
Blasphemy and filth.
>>
>>24964311
How is there a movie of this that is commercially available for purchase? How do you accomplish this in a thoroughly anti-pedo universe?
>>
>>24967524
The movie adaptation is a projection from pedo sodomite about how actually fascists are the real sexual degenerates.
Pasolini got killed by being beated, testicles smashed with a metal pipe and then ran over by a car. That's exactly what that lying demon deserved, and it brings warmth to my chest that he went out the way he did.
>>
>>24967923
he also made a beautiful movie depicting the Gospel according to St Matthew and cared a great deal about the Church

If you look up the alleged birth dates of some of the "victims" in the film and compare at least one or two of them with the history about the film's initial release/premiere, you can reason out that, based on what IMDB claims about their birth dates, at least one of the nude youths in the film, and maybe two or three, was/were under 18 at the time of filming, around 17 or so. I'm confident that at least one American court, lawyer and/or Criterion Collection's legal department/counsel have looked carefully into the matter and determined that they were (legally) safe to release it in the US for various reasons. It's one of the oldest and earliest catalogue numbers that Criterion put out.
>>
>>24968019
His Oedipus Rex was pretty good too
>>
>>24968039
This wasn't uncommon at the time. Pretty Baby and The Godfather had nude scenes with minors. I wouldn't be surprised if they were multiple minors in Salo. Film industry was less covert back then.
>>
In this book a girl supposedly gets tortured to death. I don't know what there is beyond that or if it really is just torture porn the whole way through, but there ya go.
>>
>>24967524
They don't use 12 year olds in the movie lil bro
>>
>>24968433

Something really neat about the source text is that they kidnap a group of pubescent-ish kids, and at the time of capture, they follow a precise schedule. In total, their procuresses and other muscle effect the capture of sixteen victims, eight male and eight female. When you pay attention, there's two apiece of each of the following: 12, 13, 14 and 15 year olds, two male and two female in each case (totalling sixteen), so that the four friends can experience the best of either side of puberty. They set up their nights in various polysexual quatrains, helped by staff.

This is some pretty sick shit, not gonna lie. Why is it that pedophilia is acceptable only when it's in written word form?
>>
>>24965619
Dan brown will write a totally normal book, then go back and choose a random chapter to insert weird shit into.
>>
>>24967923
Fascists literally are generally disease ridden whores though
>>
>>24968039
The most popular filmed version of Romeo and Juliet has her topless with a 16yo actress. We watched it in school.
>>
>>24968501

>other side of puberty
No
>>
>>24964311
I've read that exact edition of the book and it was terrible, horrible repetitive language to the point of insanity. I'm currently rereading it (thanks a LOT OP) but this time it's the Penguin edition.

The difference in quality is like night and day, wtf? The version I'm reading now is so much better translated/written what gives? Is this how all translations are?
>>
>>24964311
Don't read this shit. The slippery slope is real.
