What are some good books for someone dwelling into Zen Buddhism?I really like the aesthetic.
>>24974740The Doctrine of Awakening is a good place to start.

>>24974740>I really likeuh huh>aestheticor ass thickest
>>24974740Reading books to understand Zen Buddhism is contrary to the entire point of Zen Buddhism Nigga just go meditate
>>24974740Delving
I'm convinced Zen Buddhism is the religious version of telling the new guy at the building site to go ask for a "long weight"
>>24975149Bad post>>24975166Good post
>>24975172The entire point of zen is experience. Experience through meditation and just doing it. Just start meditating and goObsessing over books to read is against what zen is about
>>24975177but you don't just go there directly. you have to first do the reading and the training and then you throw it out the window
Buddhist here.I don't like Zen.Kindly,Buddhist anon.
>>24975253That's not true at all and judging by your posts and this thread you're more interested in Zen to appear interesting or cool and less interested in actual direct experience of reality through meditation which is the whole point of zen You seem like you judt want to read about it so you can have some pre canned lines to quote to seen intelligent and not actually interested in personal realization
>>24975255What don't you like about it? For me when I was getting interested in Buddhism it was the only school that really resonated with me. The Daoism influenced "go with the flow" while focusing on personal experience rather than obsessing over books and doctrine really resonated with me
>>24975255>buddhist>chantardkek
>>24975177>just meditate without any understanding of what meditation even is
>>24975439You need to start with understanding Buddhism at its core and what it's all about. What are the 4 Noble Truths, the 8 Fold Path, etc. From there you can determine what branch you resonate most with whether that's Theravada, Mahayana or something else Don't just decide "I like Zen Buddhism" without knowing anything about Buddhism This book is an excellent resource for understanding Buddhism, and what the teachings are. Many believe Thich Nhat Hanh achieved nirvana
>>24975439>what is a pratyekabuddha
>>24975261meditation is something that requires training and preparation. otherwise the buddha would have just said, meditate and you're done. instead meditation is the last step in the 8-fold path, meaning you need 7 other steps to get there
>>24975616i have also achieved nirvana. it's not as hard as you think.
>>24975292Who do you think invented the chans?
>>24975616I just like chinese or japanese Buddhism. Im not into the viet and jeet ones.
I unironically liked "Zen: its History and Teachings and Impact on Humanity" by OSHOYeah yeah, I know OSHO is a cult leader with a stupid speaking cadence who is mostly full of shit irl, but the book is legitimately well written and highly accessible. Can't speak to the quality of his other books though.
>>24975730so good any other reccs?
>>24976044Osho is extremely based and filters many
>>24975905>>2497590584000.co
Sextus Empiricus
>>24976144Aint clickin dat, lil nigga
>>24976044I always got the vibe that osho was just a fairly well-read and intelligent guy that managed to con a bunch of retarded westerners. He's better than our homegrown cult leaders (joseph smith and l ron hubbard)
>>24975166How come?
>>24976144Huh, I always sort of wondered if there was a tibetan/mahayana equivalent to suttacentral.
