I finished reading this yesterday and honestly it was kind of boring. The first few chapters detailing how the Spanish plundered the continent were great but then when it comes to the 20th century he gets bogged down into way too much detail and mentions a bunch of literally whos and corporations that make me lose interest.
This doesn't really say anything about the book. It's more about you.
>>24979093It is a book of Marxist indoctrination for Latin American public schools. It has no literary value whatsoever, except for the fact that it is financed by large corporations that seek the disunity of Hispanic peoples
>>24979093Your day is coming, gringo
>>24979093>it was kind of boring.Go become a Venezuelan fisherman if you want some excitement.
>>24979093>foreword by isabel allende>quote from ChavezI honestly thought for a minute that it was a joke
No book can make an excuse for all of Latin America being such a consistent clusterfuck. The dictator of Peru in the 90s was a Japanese guy - shitshow.
>>24979122This
>>24979093Imagine being in 2025 and still selling that an entire continent is a failing landfill because evil whities.
>>24979896Not the only reason, but it's one of the leading reasons why.
>>24979093Literal Marxist propaganda that the author admitted was Marxist propaganda.
>>24979896>evil whities. What a strange way to say jews and anglos
>>24979868Chavez is very quotable
>>24979868>How dare we hear from people who know first hand how true it is.I don't get your seethe. You want to deny this is happening? Not bold enough to take the stance that it's good for them to stay subservient, that the US deserves to pick them clean? >>24979955>He doesn't know what the word propaganda means. Poor little psyop'd kid
>>24979882Peru was doing great in the 90s
>>24979093>WAAAAAAAAAA! WE SUCK BECAUSE EVERYONE IS MEAN TO US!!!Fucking spics, man.
>>24979093>The first few chapters detailing how the Spanish plundered the continent were great but then when it comes to the 20th century he gets bogged down into way too much detail and mentions a bunch of literally whos and corporations that make me lose interest. That's why A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies is my go-to recommendation for entertaining plunder. Just one atrocity after another, atrocity after atrocity after atrocity. What a blast!
>>24979093That seems like a problem with you, to be honest. It is a very interesting compilation of historical facts (even if the history itself is shoddy) you wouldn't get anywhere else together. >>24979122The people in primary and secondary education that have read this are grey haired men who put a very strong emphasis on 'teaching children to think'.>>24979882He was a figurehead for the leader of the secret police who actually ran the show. Fuji was actually very harmless, which is why they released him from prison. Vlad, on the other hand, was revealed to still be running things from prison a few years back.>>24979955He is not being exactly coy about who he is, or why he is writing this book. It's actually far more honest than trying to launder your ideology as 'reality'.
>>24981330>compilation of historical factsWas Latin America raped worse than India?
>>24982331According to Evo Morales, >It is recorded in the Archive of the Indies, paper upon paper, receipt upon receipt and signature upon signature, that between the years 1503 and 1660 alone, 185,000 kilos of gold and 16 million kilos of silver arrived in San Lucas de Barrameda from America.>[...] Those 185,000 kilograms of gold and 16 million kilograms of silver should be considered the first of many friendly loans from the Americas intended for the development of Europe. Anything else would imply the existence of war crimes, which would entitle us not only to demand their immediate return, but also compensation for damages.>In saying this, we clarify that we will not stoop to charging our European brothers the vile and exorbitant interest rates of 20 to 30 percent that they charge the peoples of the Third World. We will simply demand the return of the precious metals advanced, plus the modest fixed interest of 10 percent, accumulated only over the last 300 years, with a 200-year grace period.>On this basis, and applying the European formula of compound interest, we inform the discoverers that they owe us, as the first payment of their debt, a mass of 185 thousand kilos of gold and 16 million of silver, both figures raised to the power of 300. That is, a number for whose total expression, more than 300 digits would be necessary, and which far exceeds the total weight of the planet Earth.I think his math isn't mathing, he didn't understand that said european formula yields around 13,000 times the original loan, which is still thirteen orders of magnitude lower than Earth's mass, like the mass of a large asteroid.https://www.pensamientopenal.com.ar/miscelaneas/40570-discurso-evo-morales-ante-jefes-estado-comunidad-europea-14-julio-2013
>>2498283(1.1)^300 times the original loan. I made a mistake, but it still doesn't reach planetary mass
>>24982331I honestly don't know much about India or its history. But I don't think so. Quantifying how much a place was 'raped' compared to some other is pointless anyway, unless you are engaging in the most asinine dick measuring competition imaginable. >>24982839Spic politicians famously just say things for the sake of talking. They say something, everyone clucks and warbles about it for a bit then something else is said or happens. And so on and so forth. By nature, latin American politics has very little sense of decorum. With some major exceptions (Romulo Gallegos, president of Venezuela, was also a prolific and excellent writer).
>>24979093I only know of this book because of third-worldists on Tumblr who love quoting it.
>>24982839When will Latinos go to Europe and take back what they are owed?
>>24983063Never, because no one cares. They usually just want Europe to stop moaning about some nonsense or another.
>>24983072I think a lot of them are going to Spain though. It seems to be full of immigrants these days.
