I've a hard time understanding how Watts and Trungpa were both alcoholics. I'm into Buddhism, and I've always found addiction to substances clouded my awareness of my true self, and instead boosted my ego. I suppose they would say "you are already a perfect buddah no matter what." But I can never wrap my head around that. When I cut out the substances, I see non-duality more clearly.
