I've just been reading "The Transit of Venus" by Shirley Hazzard.I've heard a lot about her supposedly nuanced approach to romance fiction, but it's literally just a "strong, independent" woman falling for an abusive bad boy again. Is there literally ANY book written by a heterosexual woman where the male love interest is kind, or caring, or intellectual, and the female lead actually loves him for these reasons??There's a wonderful passage in "Mrs. Dalloway" where Peter Walsh is described as being "attractive to women" because of his "bookishness", his "charm" and being "not the sort of man one had to respect - which was a mercy". Of course, only a lesbian could write something like this about a character like Peter!Guys, help me out. I'm genuinely looking for this. I need to be proven wrong.
