Any other books that were heavily edited or censored after first being published, or after the author's death?

Mitchell heisman's suicide note

the removal of the chapter "you just ask them" from Surely you're joking mr Feynmann, when he got redpilled on women.

Neitche's sister was a raving chud and edited his work to make it look anti-semitic even though he explicitly went out against it and hated it

Nietzsche's book that his sister drastically edited to appeal to the Nazis.

The Hebrew Bible is crazy edited.
The Christian Bible is crazy edited.

Kurt Cobain's suicide note too.

Borge's English translations

Mein Kampf. The only good translation is the Stalag edition, but even the kiked translations are a bitch to get a physical copy of. The only thing that isn't hard to find is "summaries" and "analyses" on it. Which, through sheer coincidence, happen to be written by kikes 100% of the time
>>
Nearly every single book ever written
>before 1900
>not originally in English
has been tampered with in some irreversible way.

whichever one of the Bronte sisters it is that only wrote one book (Charlotte?), she actually wrote two. but one of the other sisters burned the only manuscript after she died of tuberculosis because she thought it was shit.
>>
>>24990915
What is the context of this?
>>
>>24992889
>Nietzsche's book that his sister drastically edited to appeal to the Nazis.
Largely overstated. Stop repeating things your libtard teachers told you in public school.
>>
>>24995076
It's not largely overstated. How much of his work did you read? Because I read it all for university. I've never once heard one of my philosophy professors say anything close to what you're suggesting, and went out of their way to point out that he wasn't connected to the Nazis.

Behold a Pale Horse

Had a whole chapter removed because it referenced The Elders of Zion.
Apparently crazy conspiracy theories are totally fine...unless they in any way mention jews.

I don‘t think you read his post very carefully if your counterargument is that your professors went to lengths to distance him from NS.

Damn that settles it then. The university professors said it wasn’t true.
>>
>>24995159
It's still insane to me that mild not in the least edgy children's books were too offensive for modern publishers.
When his books were censored the entire mainstream publication industry lost 100% of their credibility or respectability.
>>
so are there links to the unrevised edition. is it just an old one like on archive.org or gutenberg

I told me ex who was a progressive nutcase that they censored Roald Dahl and the James Bond books around 2019/2020. She didn't believe me and said it was a right-wing conspiracy theory. She mocked me and said "Where did you hear that FOX NEWS!?!?" I showed her articles from left-wing sources and then she went on a whole "Well it's a good thing!" rant.

De Occulta Philosophia by Cornelius Agrippa.

On the Road was edited by a homosexual editor at Viking. Reading the original shows how race mixing was pushed, homosexual activities changed to heterosexual to subvert sexual norms, and talk of death changed to divorce to subvert marriage. Really makes me wonder about the editing for many of the popular novels in the 1950s.

The more you check and the more old editions of books you own and the more you can read in the original, the worse you realize things are.

e.g. The Gutenberg website seems pretty good. Most people would assume it's trustworthy, I think. But a while back I remember I wanted a passage out of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics so I went there just to cut and paste something. And I found THEY'VE CENSORED IT.

Check out e.g. Book VII, Chapter 5. Aristotle is talking about pleasures and discussing which pleasures are healthy and which are not. He says, OK, people like some things because they are just naturally good, like drinking if you're thirsty. But some things we come to like through habit, and some things just through mental disorder. He lists a bunch of "weird, perverted" desires, like chewing your nails or eating charcoal (? lol). But then it ends.

But in the original he also adds "and homosexuality in men."

AND THEY'VE CUT THAT OUT AND NOT EVEN TOLD YOU THEY DID IT

See for yourself:

They're trying to push the whole "Greeks were all fags" thing. Well faggotry WAS a thing for the Greeks but it was by no means universally accepted. Mostly it was just that they didn't take women all that seriously so they did the best they could with their bros. "Sex between the thighs" and all that lol.

didn't read the passage award

This isn't a problem with Gutenberg, but the unreliable D. P. Chase translation. Here are some others:
Ross:
>These states are brutish, but (B) others arise as a result of disease (or, in some cases, of madness, as with the man who sacrificed and ate his mother, or with the slave who ate the liver of his fellow), and others are morbid states (C) resulting from custom, e.g. the habit of plucking out the hair or of gnawing the nails, or even coals or earth, and in addition to these paederasty; for these arise in some by nature and in others, as in those who have been the victims of lust from childhood, from habit.
And from the Bartlett & Collins translation:
>plucking out one's hair and gnawing on one's fingernails, or even on coal and dirt, and, in addition to these, the pleasure of sex with males. For some of these arise by nature, others from habit-for example,
in those who are wantonly abused from childhood.
All translations I have found, including the Perseus one, agree that at minimum,
>ἀφροδισίων τοῖς ἄρρεσιν:
refers to sexual perversion in men of some sort, as from Rackham:
>These are instances of Bestiality. Other unnatural propensities are due to disease, and sometimes to insanity, as in the case of the madman that offered up his mother to the gods and partook of the sacrifice, or the one that ate his fellow slave's liver. Other morbid propensities are acquired by habit, for instance, plucking out the hair, biting the nails, eating cinders and earth, and also sexual perversion. These practices result in some cases from natural disposition, and in others from habit, as with those who have been abused from childhood
This being that ἀφροδισιάζω refers to sexual intercourse or sexual indulgence:
and
>https://artflsrv03.uchicago.edu/philologic4/LSJ/navigate/11/1/510/?byte=536925
And there is convincing reason it would mean perversion for:
In Xenophon's Memorabilia specifically referring to lust.
Whether it is paederasty or homosexuality is debatable. Since it refers to a perversion that causes boys to become perverted by habit, it is translated as pedarasty by Ross, homosexuality by Bartlett and Collins (leaning into the ambiguity of what the object of ἀφροδισιάζω was) and simply perversion by Rackham (letting you decide what kind, based on the norms of Aristotle's philosophy).

You need to be very careful with translations, because entirely removing the mention of sexuality is extremely dishonest.

Hello, I am the niggerific right wing slop account featured in your post. Thank you for boosting my profile and pushing a possibly worthwhile thelread off the board.
Remember, when you start screencap slop threads, you're not just helping a struggling South Asian POC afford naan, you're also saving the hecking esoteric trad west. I'd like to extend to you my thanks in the form of $15 off any of the gambling apps I'm paid to promote in between stoking racial resentment in coubtries I've never visited. Use code INDIANNIGGA15 to claim.
Thank you and have a based day.

Can find it on Anna’s. And it is indeed based. The removed chapters are about how to get along in marriage for both men and women. The first one is about nagging women. Strange it was removed because the advice is helpful.

>but even the kiked translations are a bitch to get a physical copy of.

Every bookstore and every library.
Most linraries in germany stock the german version too.
>>
>>24999078
The translation I have (penguin) translates it as men adopting the sexual proclivities of women or something along those lines i.e. submissive men that like to get fucked in the ass, as opposed to men fucking boys in the ass. Removing that part entirely is retarded but it doesn't seem entirely accurate to leave it as merely 'homosexuality in men' either, at least if the accompanied translator note isn't just total bullshit.
If I remember he doesn't assign much moral weight to them either way. He's just pontificating on the fact that some people clearly enjoy things that are inversions of the natural order.

>around 2019/2020
Lmao they censored Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in like 1957
>>
>>24990915
This is shocking. Honestly, FUCK Dorothy. I just pulled down my copy and read her introduction to the edition I own. "just a few excisions" fucking bitch cut out two entire parts of the book (OF SIX).
Fucking hell I could have saved myself a lot of grief reading the old beat up edition in my local library as a kid rather than buying the shiny latest edition.

Also fuck the guy in the screencap how do you consistently fuck up Carnegie's name?
>>
>>24990915
moby dick, we get the editors cut
the original is trash

According to Edward Chittham (a biographer of Emily Brontë), Charlotte edited and amended the second edition of Wuthering Heights. So have I read Emily's original version? Without buying a first edition, is it even possible to do so?
