What's your goto edition or publisher?

For me, it's penguin and Oxford classics.

Penguin generally has the best modern least censored translations.

What about Einaudi, or Sellerio?
>>
I don't generally have a go-to, I download and compare multiple editions. For Shakespeare tho Folger is my go-to digitally, and physically it is my second choice with the Oxford publications of the individual plays being my first choice

Shocken is the best for Kafka

Penguin is pretty solid. I love their clothbound poetry which ironically is even worth getting digitally. Their digital clothbound Ring Cycle is absolutely the best edition available in English since you can flip the German on and off so easily

If I am looking through a particular publisher for their stuff it's typically New Directions

Oh I forgot to mention: I typically opt for Norton Critical if its available and the work is in English. I don't generally like the Norton Critical choice for translation. Norton Publishing is actually the publisher of Emily Wilson's translations which they now use for their Norton Critical

I like Penguin because the books are less flimsy

Pléiades
It's just so comfy... The warmth of leather, the hanging of it's bookmarks that attracts my cat to play with, the smudginess of flipping the whole pages over to have a look at the notes, the visual pleasure of pleiades rows in a bookshelf
>>
for me, it's New Directions

Yeah Pléiade is my favourite as well
I have 25 so far, my most recent acquisition being the new Céline boxset
Expensive but I'm willing to pay the price
What I like is that they're generally pretty definitive, like you can buy the Baudelaire set and get everything you would ever need whereas if you did the same with say Library of America, even a penguin or oxford edition will contain more notes than the LoA edition will and they will have actual introductions unlike the LoA which has nothing
They're also the perfect size for reading and just exude quality in their construction
I thought about collecting folio society books but man those things are fucking huge
I wish there was a British Pléiade
