>em dashes make AI bots or ChatGPT copy paste obvious
I've used em dashes for years. Well before ChatGPT was a thing. I actually like them because it helps with structuring a complicated concept in a continuous sentence without breaking it. But now that people are complaining about them.. I've been wary of using them lately. Somebody will just accuse me of copy and paste.

It's not fair

I actually recall schopy ranting about how much he hates the sentence breaking habits—whether it be through dashes or parentheses—of his fellow germs. It does break the flow, he kinda has a point. The french would never commit such a travesty, he says.

I spam em dashes all the time and nobody has ever accused me of using AI. Maybe try write like a real human being

The french prefer the much more masterful; more refined; semicolon.

AI uses em dash in a specific way, the way a woman would in women's fiction. If you are not writing like a woman, you probably do not have to worry about it.
>>
It is purely a benefit to story telling. So yes the loss in acceptibility of the dashes‐–— is tragic.

i love breaking sentences. and it is more honest; that’s how you think (most the time).

one clear benefit of AI is it demonstrates loud and clear who is cringe. the old guard for the em dash who feel like AI are biting their style… were actually lame all along - now it’s just obvious.
likewise if you ask it to write a graves or housman poem, it comes out embarrassingly off-the-mark, but it can do a believable bit of pound verse. tells you something, doesn’t it?

If it makes you feel any better, now *all* effortposts are treated automatically as AI slop since anons have figured out they can ask their chatbots not to use emdashes

Anyone else using Google's search AI mode to write fetish smut? I can't be the only one.

You're the one that is bitter, and furthermore petty if that is what you think you're seeing. If you kept your delusions for creative writing you wouldn't have needed a machine to be invented to do it for you.
>>
>>25010592
People are going to accuse you of using AI whether you use em dashes or not if the writing is any good.

>I've used em dashes for years.
/On 4chan/ though? That's just dumb. You use -- for that. If you don't post in ASCII you shouldn't bother posting.
