How they lose their rich literary dominance?
>>25034891I certainly hope you intended that image to be an example of English literary decline and not of a 'rich literary dominance'.
>>25034891They never had one to begin with, Their literature was very bland.
>>25034891when they lost their colonies and became lame and gay
>>25034919This, basically.
>>25034891>i luv heckin phantasea!!!!!!!kill yourself
>>25034891Working class destroyed the culture starting with the radicals and ending around the 60s
>>25034891Tolkien is the only writer in your pic that's actually worth a shit.
>>25034981This, they are completely soulless, a country defined by everything being grey. Grey houses, grey streets, grey weather, grey expectations of the future. Nothing is allowed to be remarkable.
>>25034981agreed and I'm from the working class.
>>25034891Britain was far too pastoral, conservative, and Christian to survive in a post-modern world. The industrialized, individualistic, hectic United States proved the more resilient and has thus dominated the Anglophone literary sphere from the 1950s/early 60s onwards.
>>25034891The English literary scene always revolved around London. Now London isn't English.
Name ONE good thing they had they didn't lose. I dare you.
>>25035001>be me, an Australian of Spanish descent>Anglos call me a moor and gloat about how Spain was invaded by Arabs.>London is now majority non-white and the invaders didn't even have to fight a war.>mfw.guess who's laughing now?

>>25034891Probably something institutional, like the death of their grammar schools.
>>25035034grammar school students are spoiled dickheads who bring shame on the English race.
>>25035037they always were and they always will be.
>>25035037Grammar schools, as a selective system, does not exist anymore except by name. The old selective system had the benefits of developing a rigorous academic culture.
>>25035041my parents could have sent me to a grammar school but they sent me to a Catholic and a state school instead a.) because it's cheap, and b.) to beat some humility and compassion into me.anyway, grammar schools aren't really about getting an education. they're about networking to remain in the upper class. the rest is window dressing.
>>25035053Just like how language schools are just a front for young westerners to get a 12 month visa to foreign countries.
>>25035063I know you're joking but it's genuinely better to associate with salt of the types than nouveau riche fuckwits.
*earth*
>>25035071I'm not, people use them to live in desirable countries like Japan without having anything to offer otherwise.
Everything about England is "we were great over 100 years ago!"Imagine what that does to a people.
>>25035053>they're about networkingAlmost half of all social activity is about networking at its core. This used to be called "community", but such concepts barely exist anymore. The degree to which society has been atomized in just three or four generations cannot be understated, even the third places "movement" is constantly made fun of, even though we'd really, really need a return of them. How does this relate to writing? Online circles simply cannot replace in-person discussion/reading/writing groups, and there is still a re-calibration of specific, "cultured" (in the broad sense) social groups and classes. Even when looking at books, shows, and other media from as recently as the 80s, every character came from a defined social group, be that a profession, a specific class, an educational background, etc. Now, the base of a character is just race+gender+one personality trait. We have lost richness. Please debate me on this.

>>25035037Ask me how I know you failed the 11+Comprehensive schools were a disaster for Britain. Every course has to go at the speed of the dumbest student, who is more interested in disrupting the process than learning anything.
>>25035071Yeah, we all should choose to hang out with chavs, benefits scum and the criminal underclass.
>>25035982>>25035548Chavs are based BVLLSThe upper class do nothing about diversity while chav types fight against it

>>25035976NTA (I didn't take the 11+ because I was going to attend a Catholic school) but grammar schools aren't exactly the bastions of learning they used to be, that gave us people like Shakespeare. The whole passing the 11+ is a status sign more than anything else. As a zoomer, I've experienced how middle class forigners basically abuse their kids into getting better grades than the disfranchised white students and make make the grammar schools more or less the same calibre of a comprehensive school but with a higher status to it. In my hometown you'd be hardpressed to find a single white kid in the grammar schools and the students act like students from comprehensive schools (which is to say, they're loud, disruptive, litter, fight, and shoplift, etc). Even besides that, I know a lot of people who attended grammar schools, who have accomplished nothing in their lives, have no deep knowledge on any particular subject, cannot speak Latin, yet will still try to condescend me and others simply because they believe they have the right to as grammar school alumni. The general state of education is a fucking shitshow in the UK regardless. Perhaps certain private schools may be an escape but even then, from personal experience with privately educated people, it seems like it's still infested with the same rot (ideologically possessed teachers; rich foriengers with more resources than the native students; the embittered middle-classes trying to make the sylabus revolve solely around them and their issues, etc). I'm going to homeschool my children if I'm able to. I hope the UK doesn't become a complete socialist nightmare by that time and Ruby Ridge me for desiring better for my children, but who knows at this rate.
>>25036065proles only know one type of brown. again, foids are literally occupying every junior position in professional fields because it is a legal requirement to employ them
>>25034891They are either plotfags or jerking off to their language and no in between. What's funny is that when you're still in middle or high school, you're getting introduced to english lit with all their boring prose and yawning stories for no particular reason whatsoever, and it makes you think that all literature in that time are being written like that; some kids are going to leave literature once and for all in that day and the others would stay; if you did choose to remain in literature and choose to look beyond victorian scope, you'll realize that literature in essence have more power beyond a silly plotfags with silly narrative and silly conflict made by the most privileged group of people in the most advanced civilization in the world during that time. I always pictured english literature as something that was written by a bunch of damsel with everyday damsel stories and common damsel problem
>>25036069shakespeare didnt even go to grammar school
