I want to get back to reading, any suggestions= not talking about books to read but how to get back reading.
Long story: I used to read, but got tired because reasons and dropped the books.
It seems like I've lost my focus, My attention is gone. Probably because I spend my days in front of the PC, maybe age, but I can't focus like I used to do and I get lost easily.

Start with a good book, something you are interested, not some pretentious garbage that /lit/ forces down everyone throat because "my favourite YouTuber said i should like it".
Small steps. Do a chapter every night before going to sleep. No phone near you, no music, no rgb gaymen shit flashing around you.
My recommendation would be a 200 page book, this way you don't feel like you will never finish it.

Simply focus

idk if im the right person to ask because i go through phases of struggling with this but:
start again with something easy, short stories are good. flowers for algernon is a good novel for this, it begins in prose a child could understand, from the pov a retard who gradually gets smarter. pretty entertaining.

try keep your phone / laptop away from your bed, make an effort to read (even one page) before you sleep instead.

The Hobbit or the Gospels.

Oof, it's gotten bad anon, just stop posting and open a book

if you already own lots of unread books ask chat gpt to rate them easiest (and fun) to hardest (and boring), pick the easiest

figure out why you want to get back into reading. I hadn't read in many years and only started again recently when I quit weed because I felt like it was making me retarded. I started reading a variety of things, but it was only the books that I found challenging that were at all satisfying because my goal was to not feel retarded anymore. think about what is compelling to you about going back to reading and look for books that will satisfy that criteria.

I don't think it's too much anon, but I am aware that many people would see 3 lines and post TLDR.

it's weird, my case is the opposite, is like my brain refuses to make an effort. some time ago I enjoyed mostly stuff that made me think, things with many faces. but now my brain doesn't seem to care anymore, like I've reached a point where I disregard knowledge because everything looks like philosophical munbo-jumbo. everything is fake.
>brain we are reading this economy book about investment.
>brain: fuck it, give me a kids book.

then read a kids book. maybe you need to wade slowly back into heavier things, or maybe you just need a distraction. the phantom tollbooth is a good one.

Not just for focusing on books, but I moved my phone charger to the other side of my room so that when I'm getting into bed I don't sit and doomscroll on my phone forever, and grab the book I'm reading instead. Rebuilding focus is hard at first, but if you just continually try to read it will be like building a muscle and get stronger fairly quickly. Even if you don't make it more than a couple pages at first, just keep going at it and you will adapt to reading for longer and retain more

I remember reading about that series long ago. shit came out when I was a kid and got no attention but many years later I read here on 4chan that books were kinda hard and gory, given that they were for kids/teens
