Ever since I started journaling I feel like I can articulate my thoughts better, and no longer ruminate the same ideas over and over, but can move on to other things once I have written them down. Thanks to the anon who talked about it a few days ago.

Yeah, that was a truly liberating realization for me as well. I have an active mind but not really an intellectual family with a good culture of reading or writing, so to me there's plenty of wisdom like that, that I've had to rediscover.

Sometimes I've had thoughts and ideas about my minecraft world trying to sleep, I would ruminate about them just I like I did for other stuff, so same thing here, I just took a pen drew sketches and went back to sleep and my mind was just at rest, aaah~~

Writing down comes with other benefits as well, because writing paragraphs creates stronger memories than fleeting thoughts, you'll have a better time remembering when you are being redundant, or contradict yourself. If you see yourself being very redundant that's a good sign to start to read or try new stuff to get your thinking thrown into new directions. If you see yourself being contradicted, it's a good idea to think things through a little bit.

One of the greatest joy I've had writing either my passing thoughts, or encapsulating my beliefs in small sentimental aphorism or phrases, is seeing them echoed in other writers. Just being able to see that you arrived at the same conclusion as some guy you had never read is a very pleasant feeling, it's like having found a friend when it concerns very intimate beliefs, also a good sign to read that person more.

Eventually, with only writing passing thoughts, you'll start seeing structure and think of essays relating one part of life and another, just a few pages at first, and soon you'll be taken by the flow of structure that you had built up. Writing is such an incredible personal tool.

It's also a great way to develop your style, and just practice constructing a good sentence.
Journal-keepers make better writers.

Can you link the thread that inspired you?
I think I'd benefit from journaling, too.

It's almost as if learning how to articulate your thoughts helps you think better, wow who knew?

do you think its important to journal on paper or could a virtual document be as of much use? maybe this is a stupid question.

I (OP) use paper. I have tried digital journaling before and it just doesn't work. There is something special about handwriting.

Do you write on paper or on your pc? I have written some thoughts and beliefs on my computer but I feel that it would be more "real" in a book idk. What do you think?

Maybe I'm just weird but after having written down stuff by hand in 2023 (just remembered having done so,) skipping 2024, and then again doing a whole different journal setup for 2025 (used a daily hobonichi knockoff.) I never really read any of the stuff I had written down.
Started a digital one for this year, and it's easier to go back through the month so far. So much so that I now want to digitize the old stuff.
