>Discworld Worth reading? Every time I see a quote or excerpt it's good, but surely he can't have managed 41 books of that, right? Must be a lot of filler
>>25039439early ones are great fantasy satire and really creative, he kinda gets a system and phones it in later on but they're still good ("what if modern thing but discworld").
>>25039439Not life changing literature but very charming, satirical, clever, humane. Despite the vast differences in subject matter, he feels oddly close in tone and style to Charles Dickens.
>>25040229>he feels oddly close in tone and style to Charles Dickensno kidding
>>25039439In retrospect, it's somewhat reddit. He was not an actual redditor and therefore has a soul that shines through on occasion. However there's a lot of contrarian subversion that really aged poorly, stuff I wouldn't have batted an eye at before but now my radar is working. He collaborated with Kneel Gay Man if that gives you more context.
>>25040552yeah, but when Pratchett got with Tubcuddle, the former might have had a little dementia already. Look how long it took between when Bruce Willis started being "off" on set (Cop Out) and today. As to OP, I picked up "Thud!" in a resort bookstore, used. It was still good.
>>25040559[samefag] I should add here that Kevin Smith worked with Willis in 2007 and nothing bad happened, so Willis probably started getting demented between 2007 and 2010.
>>25039439I have only read Mort and I can't remember another book that made me laugh as much.
>>25039439I've read the entire series multiple times, give it a crack, you might enjoy yourself.
I think they're great. They don't take themselves too seriously and they're not really tied into any major narrative, so as long as you get an idea of what the characters are, or who they are, you can read them in any order. I can read one in a cozy weekend.
