I seriously don’t get it. Is there a deeper meaning or is it just gross for the sake of being gross?

one of few books I had to put down in the first chapter and push out of my mind immediately

It's short stories written in various workshops strung together with a frame narrative. I DNF'd but the story about the massage assassin was somewhat memorable. The one that gets all the attention, the kid who jerks off sitting on a pool drain and gets his guts sucked out, isn't nearly as shocking as it's characterized to be. Also, all the stories are supposedly written by different people, as per the frame narrative, but they all have the same authorial voice.

3/10.
