What are your favourite books of the Bible?
>>25041864Numbers thru 2 Kings, Daniel, and Luke
>>25041864Luke, John, ecclesiaste, Ruth, psalms, wisdom, jonah
Job and Ecclesiastes
>>25041864I mostly just read NT, John or Matthew ftw
>>25041880This, plus Song of Solomon. Everything else is bunk tbqh.
genesis is just so good. i always forget just how much shit is in there.
>>25041881>I mostly just read NTnormie
>>25041864The Gospel of John because it is the only book in the New Testament that, and this is just my opinion, is an accurate historical and theological account of Jesus of Nazareth. And because it is the only book of the Bible that is free Jewish meddling
>>25042237*free of
Amos.
>>25041864The best OT books are Ecclesiastes, Amos, Judges, Psalms, Malachi. The worst OT books are Numbers and 1 Chronicles. The best NT books are 1-3 John and Mark. The worst NT books are by far the Pauline epistles (barf) and the shitshow that is Revelation. However, the gospel of Thomas blows them all out of the water.
>>25042332Gospel of Thomas is okay, but not as good as Job or Ecclesiastes.
>>25041864the ones without the narcissist, jesus.
>>25042332>Pauline epistles (barf)Paul's letters are more interesting if you take for granted that half of them are forgeries from different groups who disagreed with each other, and even the originals are chopped up, questionably arranged, and potentially heavily-interpolated selections from Paul's actual letters. Looking at their modern forms, it's easy to be surprised that Paul was Marcion's favourite apostle and the one who Valentinus claimed a teaching lineage from.
>>25042448i want to get into gnosticism, do i start with the gospel of thomas? is it worth reading all of the apocryphal gospels?
>>25042585Best recommendation I can give is to get The Gnostic Bible by Willis Barnstone and Marvin Meyer. It is a collection of the majority of the known Gnostic texts across the different traditions and is categorised as such. It has a section prior to the texts really debunking a lot of the myths about Gnosticism, explaining the core concepts and showing how it was suppressed by the increasingly authoritarian orhthodox church. The first texts in the book are also the most primary of all the Gnostic texts, the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of John (yes the one in the New Testament).
>>25042332actually rare instance of me completely agreeing with a /lit/ post. would have said exactly the same except i wouldn't be so harsh on revelation.
>>25042585Start here
>>25041864I don't read Jewish psyops.

I’m disappointed no one has said Samuel. Personally I think God’s speech against David over Uriah is one of the most powerful moments in the OT.
>>25041864Genesis, first half of Exodus, Samuel 1 and 2, Daniel, Luke, John, Revelations.
That one where Jesus swallows the puzzle piece... and the man in the big yellow hat has to take him to the hospital.
Genesis, the Chapters where Moses leads the Jews out of Israel, Job, The chapter of David vs Goliiath, John, Matthew is good too. The epistles of Paul (there are several of them).
>>25041864Psalms, Daniel, Exodus, Ecclesiastes, Matthew
>>25041864the ones they chose to leave out
>>25041864I haven't even finished Genesis, i'll tell you when I do
>>25041864The first chapter of John’s gospel is the top. Genesis 1 - 3 are also essential. Romans, Ephesians, and Colossians are deep cuts.
>namefag post>opinion disregarded
Genesis and Revelations. Just a whole diffrent scale compared to the rest. Most of the other books are just some tiny patch in the middle east where tribes squabble over stuff that comparatively don't matter that much. Meanwhile those two books are on a cosmic scale and directly involve the fate of every living thing ever for all time.
Judges. Exodus. RevelationsBecause it's fucking cool Kings is cool until ahab dies then it's fucking boring.
>>25042733i still haven't finished the works of peter gabriel
>>25042907GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERSWAR WITHOUT TEARS
I thought the meme was silly before I read The Bible, but then it turned out that The Book of Jonah actually is pretty silly after all.
>>25042604Revelation is schizo nonsense that has done immeasurable harm to the world. Even the early church doubted its authenticity, but later clergymen took advantage of its vengeful nature in order to whip the laity into submission
Genesis, Job, John.
>>25041864Joshua is the only one I like because it's genuinely kino and way more effective Jewish imperialist propaganda than those prophets endlessly whining about how zion has fallen. I don't care for the new Testament, it's all garbage.
1&2 Samuel, 2 kings and Maccabees
