>camus is my favourite philosopherWhat does /lit/ think about this?
I dont think anything about it at all
Basic taste, probably not deeply delved into philosophy at all, but otherwise alright. Camus himself is actually fine, it's just that a lot of people who will cite him probably don't read.
>>25042456there's a reason why existentialism is the most popular philosophy elective based solely on the name of the course.
>>25042456you are in your twenties and desperate to be cool
>>25042476I don’t like most other existentialists I’ve read though.>>25042481I’m in my 30s and I prefer a solitary life pursing the stuff I love over trying to impress others socially. In my late 20s I realised that’s a waste of time that didn’t lead me to happiness.
>>25042456Based. /lit/ will go on all day about Kierkegaard then turn around and talk shit about anons having an interest in one of his intellectual descendants because he arrives at a different conclusion.
>>25042456Happy for you. But I never really found him very interesting as a philosopher. He may be a good writer, but his philosophy just somehow seems lacking. It feels more like it is based on emotions, temperament and art, rather than on logic.
>>25042456normgroid atheist taste. on par with Nietzsche, but a little more ridiculous.Kierkegaard and Tolstoy BTFO'd him before he was even born. the suicide question is a losing one for the atheist, simple as. his proposal is a feeble cowardly cope.
>>25042456Respectable taste because the world isn't really meant to be fully "understood", but experienced. Once logic was formalized by Aristotle and the scientific method subsumed methodological naturalism, philosophy lost most of its practical functionality. This is why I prefer poets over philosophers; poetry allows one to tap deeply into the ego
>>25042456I imagine someone who's not really read much, and most likely just skims wikipedia articles.
>>25042456> Dislike him. Second-rate, ephemeral, puffed-up. A nonentity, means absolutely nothing to me. Awful.I would have said of Camus’ The Fall “super fucking lame and gay and boring” but “awful” will suffice.
>>25042988Recently finished reading William Blake and while I enjoyed his Innocence and Experience poems, his prophecies were slogs and never felt worth the effort it took to understand.
>>25042456You're a pretentious teen clinging onto the most basic bitch existentialist philosopher of all time.
>>25042456You're afraid of being human and try to cling to an infantile atheist cope about creating your own le meaning.
He's not a philosopher.
