The Heron is a symbol of patience, wisdom and solitude Editionprev: >>25076507
>>25081425Aiiieeee! I am injured by your preference.
>>25081425I shot and killed a Blue Heron as child. I still feel.nad about it.
>>25081425From the age of six I had a passion for copying the form of things and since the age of fifty I have published many drawings, yet of all I drew by my seventieth year there is nothing worth taking into account. At seventy-three years I partly understood the structure of animals, birds, insects and fishes, and the life of grasses and plants. And so, at eighty-six I shall progress further; at ninety I shall even further penetrate their secret meaning, and by one hundred I shall perhaps truly have reached the level of the marvelous and divine. When I am one hundred and ten, each dot, each line will possess a life of its own.

Herons here are symbols of audacity and opportunism
herons are symbols of heronism and herondom

Gyms lack aesthetic, hard to grasp why such an activity of vitality is surrounded with such a dead aesthetic; the gym feel aesthetically so purely functional, very industrial, which makes you feel like a cog, acting with habits stronger than yourself, serving as a means to some uncomprehensible higher end. All that to say I workout at home now, and really don't crave taking back a subscription.
(I am European) Despite all the nice prospects of low taxes and a better job market in the US of A, there's still something that bothers me when I daydream of moving there, something in the culture, in the American Character. The American Character lacks some seriousness and the beauty that comes with it, they brightfully insist on their liberty but don't know what to do with it, they just funnel it towards hedonism or utilitarianism. I am attracted to the seriousness and the romantic of Europeans, even though they funnel it towards delusions of equality, towards humanitarianism and bureaucratic stagnation :/Trump is a good embodiment of what I mean, a free soul who eats burgers, and intervenes in the rest of the world to get oil and export burgers, that's the dream Americans project. And so, when I assess where I can be happy, when I assess good market vs some undescribable attractive emotions towards my old continent, I find that my drive directs me to stay, maybe it's just my laziness and this is all a bad rationalization for me not wanting to move. Any authors who speak of the American character? Or maybe the differences between Anglo, French and German characters?
>>25081425If Judaism is the vice of Protestantism, Gnosticism the vice of Eastern Orthodoxy, then the vice of Catholics is Paganism.
>>25081542Paganism is cool tho.
I hate the USA so much it's unreal. God willing I will live to see the American empire implode and the rest of the world finally free from its grasp.
>>25081573Well, their 'vice' in-so-far as grappling with the contradictions between the old and new testaments they tend to err in one direction more than another.Protestants attempt to integrate more the old Testament, the orthodox reject it entirely..Catholics side-step this issue by making scripture exclusive (at least up until recently), with the emergenc eof a parallel catholic that cares much more about miracles, Mary, and the Saints than about Jesus Christ being the trade-off.I don't have a problem with it, imo.
>>25081588Mary's pretty recent, like scripture readings in vernacular recent The trade off before was the virgins all seeing Jesus and Him being in love with them (eg anorexics with foreskin wedding rings) Mary appearing to that pope kind of calmed down the amount of crucifix desecrations
