>>25083572One of the like seven most important novels in history
>>25083572Wuthering Heights, presumably.
>>25083697Does it get better on the second read?I mean the characters are like a cross between the adams family and some normie sitcom, no one is realistic or has any real profound insight.
>>25083697What’s so important about it ?
Heathcliff has no right to be this assblasted, so he was bullied a bit and couldn't be with Catherine, who was basically his non blood related sistery which is still gross.Better than being dead on the streets of liverpool.
The most hilarious think about this novel is that it was written by someone who had no knowledge whatsoever of romance or romantic human interaction. I mean this. Emily Bronte did not even know how babies are made. She assumed it happened naturally between a married couple, but she had no idea how or the effects the act would have on people around. One day she just says that Catherine was heavily pregnant and about to deliver, and through all that time she had been meeting and talking with Heathcliff. Yet Heathcliff, mad with jealousy at that point, had no apparent response to Cat's pregnancy or the fact she was having sex with her husband (which is natural but still, we're talking about a jealousy story, one would expect this come up).
>>25084369Some people suspect Emily Bronte had autism, which I find both plausible and endearing.

Every character is an asshole. I dnf'd it about 60% of the way through.
>>25084583She did create her own world.
>>25084369>Emily Bronte did not even know how babies are made. She assumed it happened naturally between a marriedThis has to be the dumbest thing someone said. She grew up surrounded by farm life and had access to medical literature. This is why some death scenes are quite realistic, like that of the old Earnshaw.
>revenge is le pointless and le unfulfillingAnd she was right, she was absolutely right. Good for her and God bless her.
>>25083619I started manually breathing but then I forgot anon hel-
Wasn't it written by a teenage girl? I refuse to believe it's good
>>25083643straight up skipped 90% of what this dude said>>25084797agree, they're all annoying as fuck. I did somewhat sympathize with most of them though, somehow
>>25083749It's about being comfyIt's not about characters
>>25087184It's also about the characters, everyone is a mess, although .Hareton because of Heathcliff's decision on how to raise him.
>>25087184>comfyYe bra a droonkin man tryna trow a we babe over tha tail un give me lasa a glascka grina so coomf.
>>25083749The characters are basically English trailer trash but with money
>>25087738Idk, Edgar LARPs as a legit pooftah tofs.
>>25083572A banger
I think I found a continuity error, in the opening when Mr.Lockwood meets Cathy, she takes out a black witch book and then proclaims that she is teaching herself black arts and that she cursed Joseph, the latter then rambles out of the room cursing her.But in the second part, when Nelly is done with the story, Cathy whines that she has no books, none, to take a page out to write back to Nelly.
