Boring, vapid, redundant and infantilizing. Maybe I would have enjoyed it a little more if I were a hormonal pencildick like the main character.
>>25088222>Filtered by a book taught to tweensEmbarrassing!
First published in 1951, this was a product of the time when teenagers were first coming into their own. Controversial at the time, it has dated badly which is probably why it is part of many high school curriculums..
>>25088289Fpbp
>>25088289>>25088309reading this after the sound and the fury or moby dick makes it feel like utter dogshite by comparison. the teenagers in those books are far more based and not nearly as moody or lifeless despite still being a little angsty and retarded
>>25088326>The teens in a book written from the perspective of a socially alienated teenager experiencing disillusionment from his loss of innocence aren't 3 dimensional enoughYou're probably autistic, dawg.
>>25088326Kek, don't you love when an anon like this comes in and immediately reveals that he's been reading for a total of 2 years and gets all of his recommendations from /lit/?
it's good at first and the conversations with the sister near the end are very wholesome, a lot of the book is just very slice-of-lifey which probably appeals to kids still addicted to anime or whatever. obviously it's not in the same league as flaubert or melville or whatever, but it's still good, thoughbeit
>25088387>25088392>i cant defend the book>let me make baseless assumptions about the interlocutor and hope no one notices
>>25088326Crazy how pseuds can only approve of literature if the words are big and flashy. When it lacks the markers of high literature (tm) you're at an utter loss
>>25088446>Noo anon, you don't get it! You have to debate me seriously! I've read Faulkner and Melville!!
>still can't defend it
>>25088446>I'm going to ignore the criticism in your post and instead focus on the fact you called me autistic
>still can't
>>25088222>calls holden (as in full of shit) pencil dick but have exclusively sex with his anus.this is too complex for the level 33 mason to understand that this books is about the last white man being replaced by mexicans trying to save his sister com browns as he watched masonic initiations of rape that you participate joyfully while the character couldn't.holden is a mockery of conservatism by semites, they molested him into a neurotic and ridiculed him, as if he was the last white man thinking highly of himself in a field filled with mexicans.it is a great novel but once you realize how sadistic it is, you pass the level of caring about decency, you get worried about people who's asshole's pounce like yours.great novel for young man, trying to protect the innocent while at same time avoiding the responsibility of reproducing in a field of coloreds...
Is there any point for me in reading 9 stories and franny/zooey if I found this book quite meh?
>>25088631what kind of degree i need to get the whole story?>they molested him into a neurotic and ridiculed himhow is it they no longer teach at school that you ought never to engage in a serious conversation with jews. That is you can engage in their frivolous talmudic pastime,by any means, do not let the conversation get serious. BC ((they)) are incapable of addressing you candidly, whenever ((they)) open their mouth, ((they)) calculate best ways to game you.
>>25088695>what kind of degree i need to get the whole story?you need to be born colored for the full explanation of the masonic diddeling and it's consequences.how are you in the sciences of symbolism related to history or even symbolism like holden as being "full of shit" and the idea of mocking conservatism?as a mason you'll be the raped ridiculed goon faggot subservient to brownoids, you can only achieve the level of proficiency of symbolism and psychology by reading "totem and taboo - 1913".do you think this would sell if the author said this:at the end the toothless hick go to the big city trying to fuck his sister or that was too early in post war and he is clearly one of the most cowards and genius writers out there?rye is brown anon, the idea of a catcher is the idea of sexual worth, holden is like a gentleman but the writter consider him a hick and his sister a prostitute that he insinuates incest as if the only affinity left would be the last virgin alive.holden holds, he holds his dick, he think he is a "catch", the thing that is sacred to him, the human bond and affection is never seen, the contrary is seen, he sees a masonic initiation and it's consequences, the killing of a guy who could not survive the shame of being sodomized, for the neurotic who holds sacred esteem towards the human relations, sex and affection, that shit mind fucked him forever, if he was holding his dick, just imagine being anally raped, he wanted to protect his people from the lodge and the mexicans, the allegory is subtle but truly is sadistic.imagine trying to save your sister because you're so disenfranchised on the post war that you sacrifice yourself for the only relatable thing, your family.he call everybody phony but, what will he do? assume the hole of the father of his sister and try to avoid her being corrupted while avoiding his own responsibility? is the martyr a irresponsible person trying to pass it's owns life responsibility and outsourcing it to others? he could not even find a stable society, he is a man trying to long to something but he can't even grasp what is, so he is stuck with childhood because it was when innocence of the society he wanted existed, in his imagination on a field that is brown because semites are brown and he is the only non brown trying to save his own.
esls also nice spacing kek
>>25088766I'm not american but you know it's true.
>>25088222I thought the part where he got molested was interesting, because I've never seen anyone else mention it.Other than that yeah I never really understood this book. Didn't relate to Holden at all.
>>25088768i know you're not kek
>>25088771it doesn't really change him at all. most events in the book feel inconsequential
>>25088222Midwit-pseudcore, like most books taught in high school
>>25088222>t. poorfag
>>25088813I'm kek but not american.
>>25088721i never even tried to join any lodge mostly bc i didn't want to get involved with sodomites proactively. Mostly those pootahs that the academia has by the cartload are either weak in knees when they see a fresh flesh to devour or are scheming females in a man's skin.On the other hand, i've always thought about the significance of the Burnse's "Gin a body fuck a body Need a body cry". How is this that the protagonist likes the song but is not willing to get involved in the game club?
>>25088222loved it when I was 13, don't think I'll ever read it again just to keep that memory pure
>>25088222It’s actually a very interesting read. I’m not sure of the ethics of it, that wooof be the only questionable part of it. The story is interesting, the characters dynamic. Any critics of this book other than the moral/ethical issues are generally pseuds posturing.
>>25089510Hmm...I had to check this, to find this without researching it: "JOE ATWILL The Freemason In The Rye" What is the relation of the idea of catching a kid?I read this twice, almost 20 years ago, first in portuguese than english. Are you saying that he joined it by the idea that he fucks a kid?Because I interpreted that, as the sodomized guy killed himself by jumping out of a window (my memory could be faulty), he is in the rye field but at a cliff, catching the kids who are jumping from the cliff.I could be wrong, if you think about the sadistic intentions you could be right, he was corrupted at the end but I got more of a trying of preserve innocence. We see a lot of man stuck in past times, I got the idea that he would become a sort of martyr or wanted to be.But you could be right... I don't know, they groom two types of people, the "hero" (a cuck controlled by a whore) and the rapers homossexuals.Could he be turned to a toddler rapist? Is that your argument?
>>25088222>being an edge boy who can't feel sympathy for a kid in troublePray that you'll grow out of it and learn to appreciate art, because you're not a spectrum warrior making posts like this as an adult, right?
>>25089791fitting in yet, esl?>>25089824what trouble? he's just a d
>>25088674Franny and zooey is his best book imo
>and that just killed me, haha>says this a thousand more timesBRAVO
>>25089797i always thought the meaning of the title was similar to that of the "sneeds feed and seed" joke wherehe uses "if a body catch a body coming through the rye" .I'm sorry for low iq take buteither catcher becomes fucker in the rye or ... i can't quite wrap my head around this metamorphosis.I still want to second that the folk song is somehow the key to the understanding of what's been told. Masons are involved for sure, but "JOE ATWILL The Freemason In The Rye" is too far fetched, somehow.>sodomized guy killed himself by jumping out of a windowi never gave this a big attention bc so many memoirs (Joice, Celine, Houellbecq, russians, etc) display the utmost sadism and sodomy in the 'elite school' dormatories with suicides etc that this seem to be rather a norm.I somehow think that the counterpoint of the novella is the corruption of the Holden Caulfield, although i can't put a finger on it.
>>25090361>many stories about masonic rites are written.many such cases, I'm trying to write a novel at least 4 characters were raped. I'm even trying to reduce the amount of rape of it.
