Ive been a NEET for 3 years already because of a depression. My family is supporting me till i find a job.I need books to help me learn how to talk to people again, how to be social again. Pref literature but could be any book really. Heard Austen is good for this. I dont wanna find a job just to be an autist in there. Thanks anons, youre my only frens.
It's a very easy read. Speaking from experience, being a NEET makes you very egocentric. This book really helped me change that, and I really noticed people light up a certain way when talking to me after reading this in a way they didn't before.
>>25088773>I need to learn to be social and make friends. >What books can I read alone in my basement to help me be social and make friends? I dont know. That's kind of like asking what math equations will make you a better kisser.
>>25088807I read it but learned nothing but "say their name and ask about their shit"To op, I was/am you but 34 and neet for 10 years. What I did was wait until my loneliness was too much to bear and started being able to physically feel it (like a viscous black mass inside my chest), then tried to reconnect to an old "friend" (acquaintance really) and he got me a part time job, it was really awkward but now I can talk to people somewhat, and even signed up for college again, and I'm not the most awkward autismo in the class (lab technician), in fact I may be the least socially awkward of the lot. Really, once you stop looking at yourself through everyone's eyes and see them instead, you'll see how awkward and insecure they all are, which helpsSo my advice is read the books sure, but then instead of high stakes go fuck up socially by getting a job that makes you talk to people a little bit. Yes you'll fuck up and maybe even get fired but who cares, it's just exp points
>>25088773>>25088807HTWFAIP is fantastic, but also, read plays and dialogue, get into the routine of speech, and start reading aloud, anything, record yourself reading and listen to it.
>>25088773whenever you meet someone, try to find out what it is that they know, that you don't know, that you should know. this will allow you to show an unfeigned interest in them. i use this method a lot and it has served me well.
I went 5 years as a NEET and I just got a shitty job and started talking to my coworkers

>>25088773>I dont wanna find a job just to be an autist in there.>Heard Austen is good for this.So you want to start talking like a Victorian-era character because you think it'll make you fit in?
You can always use the solid snake method
>>25089552I like it. Very methodical, simple and precise.
Kot thread.
>>25088773>I dont wanna find a job just to be an autist in there. The longer you wait the bigger a social rift will be between your coworkers and your working body creating a permanent autistic scarring that everyone will look at and see right away, inaccessible to the artificial skills of conversation denoting truth of being different and rejected by your social betters, a permanent scarlet 'A' grafted on your face that stands for Autistic. Right now you could play it off like you were studying in those three years and people will just treat you like three years junior with a little weirdness to her, but if you keep waiting you will become permanently unrelatable to them. Don't worry about the shit games people play, you are going to a job to collect some money so you won't die. The best way to level up your social skills is to get out there and confront these people for the gaslighting and caste system they are conspiring to build.
