There was an enormous hype around this book. And I can't remember why it garnered all of this attention
i didnt read the book BUT>it says that the jesus ewas a woman or the holy grail was the virgin mary or some shit like that>the vatican chimped out for some reason>streisand effect>dan brown rubbing his kike hands all the way to the bank
>>25091701>I didn’t read the bookCould’ve stopped right there
>>25091679It was a must read book and a FOMO moment
>The Einstein Dilemmawe can churn out one of those every decade
It's extremely engaging, masterfully so. It's like the Hardy Boys technique of ending each chapter on a cliffhanger, but refined and brought up to par for adult readers.Say what you want about the rest of the book, but this aspect of it might genuinely be worth studying if you have ambitions as a writer.
>>25091679The book depicts the opus dei as a sect of fanatics willing to kill. The holy grail is the lineage of Jesus, he had offspring. That's all.
>>25092399This. The main thing I remember is gripping bite sized chapters. And albino flagellation.
>>25092399Yes. I read it back in the day. It was addictive, sort of equivalent to binging a series on a streaming service today.
>>25092528>>25092582Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I can't decide.
It's a fun, fast-paced entertaining thriller with a unique biblical backdrop premise. It's just a solid, original and well-told story. It doesn't have mindblowing characters, themes or prose, but the suspense is arguably masterclass.
>>25091679Hype is the wrong word. It was very "controversial" because mouth breathing evangelical christian retards got super triggered by it for whatever dumb fucking reason (I'm not going to read it and none of the cable news outrage factories adequately explained it). This controversy led it to be very very widely read because people wanted to see what the fuss was about so it sold a shit ton of books. It's basically the book equivalent of The Slim Shady LP and as far as I can recall one of the last works of art to cause an insipid moral panic in America.
>>25092600Define "good" and "bad"It was "good" in the sense that it keeps you engaged, but "bad" in the sense that the literature is not enriching/broadening your mind in the same way as something like David Lindsay - A Voyage to Arcturus. You probably get materially less out of reading a chapter of Da Vinci Code than you would out of watching an episode of the Sopranos
>>25092630i love seeing that webm off of /tv/ kek
>>25092624>book equivalent of The Slim Shady LPkekAll I remember is enjoying it as a 13yo kid, and getting a fancy illustrated version of Illuminati right after. Then everyone kept dismissing Dan Brown books as embarrassing slop for retards, I got slightly embarrassed about enjoying them, and never engaged with the author again.
>>25092613Its basically a webnovel. Short chapters that end on a cliffhanger.
>>25092760I've never read a webnovel
Women ruin everything
TDVC felt more like television than literature. You will never find any novel more frequently in thrift stores than TDVC.
>>25091679Umberto Eco did it better but this was still really entertaining airport slop.
>>25091701I think the bloodline of Christ was the grail but I barely remember the book.
