Genesis is the worst book ever written. It begins with the notion that the initial state of the world was primordial waters that God split in two. This was not a novel idea, and was plagarized from other societies. It omits the mention of black holes and dark matrer, and presents itself as ignorant about outer space. The universe being created in seven days has no truth to it, not even if you regard a day as a period, the universe was not created in seven distinct periods. This was absolutely just inserted to retroactively explain why there were seven weekdays and to justify a day of rest, there were already seven weekdays before Genesis was written, and seven is a distinctly human number, being the all time favorite number of mankind throughout history, which is a big red flag the book was written by humans. Genesis 2 is clearly a separate document from Genesis 1, not only because it goes back in time to the creation of man from the start to "explain in more detail", but also because it uses a different word for God, indicating a different author was writing Gen 2.(Part 1).
The moral lesson of Adam and Eve is that independent thought is bad and you should just trust God because the book said so. God also violates his own law by punishing men for their ancestors, which he forbids later in the Bible. God also declares that all murders are to be punished by the death penalty, but later allows Moses to live after he kills someone, and allows Cain to live after he kills Abel, and even protects Cain with a mark. Cain finds a wife but it is not explained where his wife comes from, unless it is Eve and he is an inbreeder. God has the power to bring Abel back to life, and he is clearly mourning the death of Abel, but he chooses to give them a new son instead, this is not consistent with when he revived Lazarus later because he mourned him. The story of Adam and Eve was also stolen from the epic of gilgamesh which was written first. There was no natural consequence to eating the fruit the only real consequence was artificially imposed upon them by God. Adam lives hundreds of years which is impossible, and then God limits Man's life to 120 years but people continue living older than that after he limits it, and even today people have surpassed 120. This number 120 is very important because it proves the ignorance of the authors, because humans naturally usually die before 120, and the human authors probably picked up on that fact and included it out of ignorance and guesswork. (Part 2).
Genesis just casually says there used to be giants and doesnt elaborate until later, and never really elaborates much. The tower of babel is an excellent example of gods morals, allegedly if mankind all spoke one language they would work together against god, this naturally makes him seem like a problem if all his creation worked together against him, and his way of dealing with it was to force them to fight each other and form nations and tongues and intentionally divided them against themselves. The fact that "it repenteth me that i created them" is not consistent with the notion of God being perfect and making no accidents. The flood story was also stolen nearly verbatim from the epic of gilgamesh, and god promising not to end the world in a flood specifically is a very underwhelming promise. The absolute garbage lineage sections are awful because they are both fake and boring. He lived 905 years and begot him, he lived 860 years and begot him, he lived 870 years and begot him. None of these people are even real so how does reading all these random names benefit me. What is the spiritual benefit of the bible listing the cubits of the ark and listing the names of all of noahs 100 descendants and ancestors who didnt exist. The woman turning to salt in sodom and gemmorah was stolen from an ancient greek myth and lots daughters grape him while he is asleep. What is the moral of the story. Was sodom punished because they lusted for men or because they lusted for angels. The fact lot offered his daughters in their place is not a good moral lesson either. (Part 3).
The fact the prophet abraham owned a sex slave is proof that genesis is not actually antislavery, but abrahamics had to adapt to modern morals standards. The fact abraham was tested to sacrifice isaac is two problems. It contradicts god being omniscient and it is also a bad moral lesson. The moral lesson is that you should do anything the book tells you even if it is morally wrong. The fact god punishes the pharoah for not knowing that sarah was abrahams wife is proof that having good intents does not matter to god. The fact that genesis declares the animals were created to be adams companion but they failed to be suitable is more proof god is a bad creator, then his second attempt at making a mate tempted adam to sin is proof god is a horrible creator. Then god gives adam dominion of the animals twice, and the second time he contradicts himself and says he only had dominion over plants the first time, even though the first time he did say adam has dominion over the animals. The fact the garden of eden was depicted as being "in the east" and located by four real rivers implies eden was supposed to be taken as a literal place and not a poetic metaphor, if that is true then where is it and where is the cheribum with the sword? If Eden is just a symbolic place, why did Genesis pinpoint its location with four real life rivers and note Eden is east of israel? Why does God mandate his people to be marked by the flesh in a painful ritual before they are old enough to consent to it. The lack of consent confirms that the ritual is meaningless. Gensis also says the jews are chosen above all nations, which is racist, and contradicted later when Jesus says the people who believe in Him are the real chosen ones and Paul says circumcision doesn't even matter. Jesus also says He did not come to change the Law, but then He changes literally every Law. Jacob tricks God to bless himself somehow? Literally no moral lesson or spiritual value in this story. There is literally no historical evidence the Jewish slavery in Egypt even happened too, and if there is any evidence, it is exaggerated.(Final Part) lol.
>>25123312I'll address some specific points. Genesis 1 is a polemic against Mesopotamian cosmology and theogony. One god, who is antecedent to the primordial waters and uncreated, unlike the gods of the Mesopotamians, makes man in his image and breathes life into him, and man is given dominion over other creatures. In Enuma Elish men are created merely to be the slaves of the gods, so that they will not themselves have to work to make the world function. >Genesis 2 is clearly a separate document from Genesis 1It's true that there are two creation stories in the Bible: that of the creation of the universe/world, and that of the creation of man. The climactic creative act of the latter is the creation of the woman from Adam. In Hebrew, Adam merely means human, derived from the word Adamah, or ground or earth. Adam essentially means earthling, or a thing that has been taken from the earth. "Woman was not made from man's head to be ruler over him, nor from his foot to be subservient to him; but from his side was she made, to be his companion.">the book was written by humansNeither the OT nor the NT ever make a claim to the contrary.Anyway, saying any of this is plagiarism has to be bait, since they are connate semitic mythologies, the one struggling against the other.

>>25126706Man was created in the image of a single omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent god, with natural dignity, blessed, given dominion over the rest of that god's creatures, and encouraged to reproduce. You can argue whether or not it reaches the same end, but the framing is different to begin with, considering that in Enuma Elish man was created by Ea from the blood of Kingu, Tiamat's consort and chief of her deicidal army of monsters.>And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.>What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou thinkest of him? Yet thou hast made him but little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
