Good books on the consciousness debate?
There is no debate. Consciousness is not special or unexplainable. It's just our brain doing computations. You might as well ask about the walking debate.
>>25127295Take this shit to instagram.com nobody here knows what a good society is not even george washington accept me.
By the way the more brown-greaking a discovery the more people don't seem to care. In other words it is getting harder and harder to deliver.

Only i am conscious. the rest of you are illusions i created to entertain my self.

>>25127295Why do you need a book on consciousness?I know I'm conscious, because of the fact I am here writing this post.It is quite literally self-evident.
>>25127470Thanks for this. Not OP, but do you have any advice for finding like-minded people to associate with? Not asking for invites to discord servers or whatever. Just where to look.

>>25127295There is no debate. Physicalism is just wrong. Start with these refutations of physicalism first. Then read others, recent or classic, if you want to. I just recommend these four first since they are the most comprehensive.

>>25127832Also Christian List's first personal argument against physicalism is worth readinghttps://philarchive.org/rec/LISTFA> The aim of this paper is to discuss a seemingly straightforward argument against physicalism which, despite being implicit in much of the philosophical debate about consciousness, has not received the attention it deserves (compared to other, better-known “epistemic”, “modal”, and “conceivability” arguments). This is the argument from the non-supervenience of the first-personal (and indexical) facts on the third-personal (and non-indexical) ones. This non-supervenience, together with the assumption that the physical facts (as conventionally understood) are third-personal, entails that some facts – namely, first-personal, phenomenal ones – do not supervene on the physical facts. Unlike other arguments against physicalism, the first-personal argument, if successful, refutes not only physicalism but also other third-personal metaphysical pictures, including standard versions of dualism.

>>25128122>But why am I THESE computations in particular? If you were all the computations you would ask the same question so you probably are.If you died every time you go to sleep and a new brain was made from scratch when you wake up you wouldn't notice the difference. That means "you" are external to the physical medium.
>>25128273>If you died every time you go to sleep and a new brain was made from scratch when you wake up you wouldn't notice the difference. That means "you" are external to the physical medium. You could make the same argument about things like Last Thursdayism or Boltzmann brains. If the universe was created last Thursday just with all the evidence it is much older purely by coincidence, you wouldn't notice a difference. So how can you believe in anything at all?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omphalos_hypothesis
>>25128322>If the universe was created last Thursday just with all the evidence it is much older purely by coincidence, you wouldn't notice a difference. This only supports the idea that we don't know anything for certain which is the most basic observation that underlies all sincere philosophy. The thought experiment doesn't support the idea that the thought experiment itself is true just like my thought experiment doesn't suggest that your brain is actually recreated every day. You are an idiot.
The Phenomenology of Spirit is a book that describes how consciousness debates. Hegel talks about all of the various moments of debate, opposition, conflict, resolution, synthesis, and growth that consciousness goes through in developing spirit.
The brain (matter) isn't the necessary condition of consciousness, although consciousness is the necessary condition of the brain (matter). Materialists ironically don't know what matter is.
>>25128344Do you know its a basic observation?
>>25128919NPCs don't have the capacity for observation since they lack individual selves. They can't understand the concept of direct observation because they lack access to it.

>>25128867Even i can't define it. The body is reducible to more than just atoms which are just charges.
>>25128273>If you died every time you go to sleep and a new brain was made from scratch when you wake up you wouldn't notice the difference. This is a greater mystical woowoo speculation than anything any nonmaterialist has ever positedLiterally quantum entanglement arisen from configurating atoms in s specific order as if every ego was akin to H20 or any chemical element that manifests under X combination, but also that every atom of water is the identical atom in many places. A sort of super-one-electron universe.
