>Take book of centuries ago>Rewrite everything with other words>Add enough new material to protect it under copyright law>ProfitWhy aren't you doing this?
that's the read plan behind making those politically correct edits of old shit, swap out an n-word, bam, 170 more years of copyright and ppl eat it up.
>>25128054I think it would work better to produce an open adaptation or reworking of whichever book, as copyright is not an issue for the vast majority of old texts, from the Ancient world to the 19th century. Think the Odyssey as the structure for Ulysses. This way you can also ignite scholarly interest, and a core readership who are interested in a reworking of a text with which they are familiar, this can see your adaptation evelated to a higher echelon of art, if you are genuinely a good writer this is a good idea. I think your idea would not work as all worthy original works have such well-known structures and narratives that it would be glaringly obvious from where you took inspiration if you tried to be underhanded about it.
>>25128054>Why aren't you doing this?too busy masturbating
>>25128054Anyone with the energy to do this also has the energy to invent the story.
>>25128054I have done this before. It sort of works.
Profit in writing depends entirely on promotion, especially on booktok
