If it's over 400 pages it's simply too fucking long.

He's right though.
>>
But anon, by adjusting the font size you can make any book have an arbitrary amount of pages.
>>
>>25130357
That's gay. Stop doing that.
>>
might be right. 159 pages into an 800 page book, not sure I’m going to make it through.
>>
>>25130343
What if it's a series of four books and they're all 400 pages each?

No. Condense it down to 1-2 books of 800 pages each or fuck off.

Fiction isn’t to bad if it goes past 400 I can read it faster but nonfiction can start feeling like a text book.

Read the first volume of The Civil War by Shelby Foote. It’s really good but I don’t think I’m going to bother reading the other two volumes.

Reading don Quixote and its great but I’ve barely made it a quarter in

I read ebooks on my phone. If it's over 2000 lengths of my screen, then it's simply too long.
>>
sadly the reason why i'll die without having read don quixote and that novel with the whale

Who gives a shit about page count, it can be a 1400 pages but reads like butter like Monte Cristo.
>>
>>25130343
depends on the genre
>>
>>25131726
and there are books like the first critique that are less than 300 pages but read like someone is forcing you to chew your own teeth. this is the only correct answer
>>
>>25131726
>reads like butter like Monte Cristo.
there are some long ass filler passages

Your book is both volumes in one?
If this is the case, don't bother with part 2.

The main issue with bigger books is the fact that you don't know if you are going to enjoy it.
One thing is getting a Kafka book, with some 200 and something pages, and just raw dog that crap. Another is get a 1400 pages book that turn out to be shit and you want to quit and this makes you feel depressed.

Example, I read A Tale of Two Cities in February, it started well but the middle of the book was just so boring and slow, because it was written in Victorian English, each conversation was 10 pages. But because the book barely had 300 pages, I could see progress happening, and just keep on reading until it get's to the part were he came back to France and the book became interesting again.

If you can't summarize your philosophy in one chapter, you failed. The rest of the book should just be a formal logical proof for your ch1 assertions.

I just finished Slaughterhouse-five, and the first chapter is just the author explaining why he wrote the book. Don't really think you can do it as you said.
BTW, really enjoyed the book. Very fast paced, interesting way to tell a story using time travel to be able to jump to different parts of the life without needing to explain why he was doing it.

But anon, The Whale Rider is under 200 pages long.
