Is writing 360 words in 25 mins an acceptable pace?
>>
>>25131549
Depends on the goal and quality of the words
>>
No. It is too fast, it has to be shit.

I suppose I want to write atleast 2 short stories a week. I can’t judge my own words though. Sometimes they are great, other they feel weak.

Really? I thought it was slow. Isn’t 500 words half an hour the professional pace?
>>

Define professional. Stephen King or James Joyce?
>>
>>25131577
By professional, I mean those who write or a living, or trying to get to a place where they can

I tend to do 300-400 / hour if doing it well
Up to 800 if I'm half-assing it
Up to 2000 if I'm writing trash and decking it
>>
Acceptable for what?
>>
>>25131617
to become a pro

Are you writing short stories or novel length material?

I think what's more important than pace to becoming pro is just doing it every day for the same amount of time, no matter what. I find if I'm worried about quota the quality can dip significantly on days the muse is absent, but if I sit there allowing myself nothing but the ability to write something will eventually come to me that I actually like.
