I just finished the Wizard Knight duologyFirst half of Wizard dragged a little for me, but I found the last 200 pages amazingHaven't read fantasy this good in years. Not as good as the solar cycle, but the mythical feeling of the story is very engaging.
It's absurd how good even Wolfe lite is. The man was just darn good at spinning a yarn.
I’m sure it’s all great if you’re a manchild.

>>25158920>Able tries to tell people he's really just a kid inside>"Honestly, I feel the same way sometimes"I found this running gag to be very funny. Also Mani the cat is GOATed, and I loved Org as well. Every time I see a BoTNS thread I try to encourage people to read Wolfe's other books, he writes lots of different settings and genres well. Check out the Latro series, it's absolutely fantastic. I could talk about his lesser known books all day, but I have never regretted reading anything written by Wolfe
>>25158920I know the feel, anon. The book transforms the reader into a child again. Considering the themes I don't think that was an accident. Nothing quite like it. Beautiful book

>>25159694This has crystallized my determination to read it. The torturer book was too verbose for me at first and I put it down for awhile but I will give it another go for childhood wonder.

I loved every scene with Eterne, especially when the leopard knight picks it up

IN THE NAME OF DISIRI AND BEFORE THE VALFATHER, I GIVE MY BLOOD SO THAT THIS THREAD MAY LIVE
I really enjoyed the Latro books and a good amount of his short stories.
I just read BoTNS. I actually don't read fantasy that much, but I absolutely loved it. I did struggle with the vocabulary a bit, and at times the women seemed to be the sort of typical eye-candy/titillation you see occasionally in older fantasy, but overall it really won me over with its weirdness.
>>25164568I also enjoyed these a lot. I liked the third one the most, it had a lot of really interesting things going on. The ending was a little weak but it was a fantastic read.
