Which is a bigger waste of time: philosophy, or occultism?
>>
Your mother trying to make me cum, god she’s awful at coitus.
>>
>>25164801
Occultism's more fun, so probably philosophy
>>
>>25164801
They are both massive time sinks with few redeeming qualities. One key difference is occultism uses totems/items, philosophy doesn’t. Philosophy won’t get you a cool pack tarot cards, a little baphomet statue, pretty crystals, maybe a sword or chalice or something…
The flip side of that is I can imagine someone getting too into occultism and going bankrupt on consumerist shit. I can’t imagine someone wasting a ton of money on philosophy
>>
>>25164839
Philosophy will only bankrupt you if you get obsessed with collecting the classics and you're not good at thrifting. I try to read as much as can on Gutenberg or Annas-Archive and if I really want something, I'll get it off Abebooks or at Goodwill. That's how you philosophize
>>
>>25164801
Neither. It's science and anything strictly physicalist oriented.
>>
>>25164879
Do you think the computer you’re using to post was made using philosophy, occultism, science, or something else?
>>
Occultism is more useful in practice, philosophy almost never has a practical benefit. Look at how many philosophers were depressed or suicidal. Meanwhile occultists either become rich cult leaders or start a business selling rocks.
>>
>>25164897
Not to mention rock stars. I’ve never heard of a metal band based in philosophy
>>
Not Metal
>>
>>25164801
The occult can transform you internally. I saw this as an occultist for several years.

However, applied philosophy can be useful, just needs to be distilled. Consider, for instance, the political and economic movements started from a philosopher's idea.
>>
>>25165003
that's because no one intelligent is interested in making it by joining a goy-rock band, maybe a spiritual poet, not a philosopher.
rock culture is a decadent corruption of religious idolatry turned secular, just lmao if you like any of it
>>
>>25165140
> The occult can transform you internally. I saw this as an occultist for several years.

What happened?
>>
>>25164890
mostly science (all the boring actual work: computer science, chip design, etc), a little bit of philosophy (the theoretical foundations of science, i.e Leibniz developed binary) and a tiny bit of occultism (the inspiration for the theoretical foundations, i.e Leibniz's binary formalism was inspired by the I Ching)
>>
>>25164801
They are both avenues of personal development.
Neither is a waste of time, though they are often dismissed by ignorant retards.
>>
>>25165193
The occult forced me to be less of a jerk, more internally tempered, not as angry, more confident.

It took years, but it worked.
>>
Philosophy. I dont know why midwits love it.
>>
is there a lit chart for occultism
>>
>>25164890
>Do you think the computer you’re using to post was made using philosophy, occultism
Yes
>>
>>25164890
Charles Babbage was involved with all of those, as it happens.
>>
>>25165193
he stopped listening to norwegian black metal and moved into dungeon synth
>>
>>25164890
>Do you think the computer you’re using to post was made using philosophy, occultism
yes lmao, theyre literally built on philosophy
>>
>>25164801
I'd say both have their time and place when they aid a person's development, but choosing either of them as a lifetime occupation would be symptomatic of arrested development, and become detrimental.
>>
>>25164897
Presumably you're referring exclusively to modern, Western thinkers. Ancient and medieval thought and Eastern thought focuses heavily on praxis.
>>
>>25164801
both are great if you read schelling and steiner, both are retarded asswipery if you read aurelius or crowley
>>
>>25165184
>I’m too intelligent to have fun or make money
>>
Philosophy is only good for debunking other philosophy.
>>
>>25164801
measuring things under the lens of being a waste of time is a false framework
either there is an objective metric which determines the value of your time and questioning it's value is meaningless, or there is not an objective metric in which case questioning it becomes philosophy
>>
>>25165003
really? speaking of rocks you must have been born under one.
>>
>>25166371
Another retarded faggot who thinks “real philosophy” is a mixture of self-help and spirituality. It’s not worth arguing about I just want to point out how idiotic this is.
>>
>>25167257
Whose your favorite philosophical rock band?
>>
>>25167284
Rush
>>
>>25167291
Rush sucks
>>
>>25167506
No u
>>
>>25167284
aside from Rush, there's Blue Oyster Cult, King Crimson, Genesis, lotta prog fits into this category.
>>
>>25164890
>believing that computers are not a waste of time
>>
>>25167275
Sorry, modernity sophistry is not philosophy, the "love of wisdom," given it tends to deny that Sophia even exists.
>>
>>25168678
>modernity sophistry
Saaaar
>>
philosophy used to be real
>>
Everyone does philosophy whether they realize it or not. saying you don't have a philosophical perspective is exactly like saying you don't speak with an accent. One can however have unquestioned philosophical perspectives that they take for granted without inspection or thought.
>>
>>25164801
occultism is mainly a way to make drug use appear profound, so probably philosophy
>>
>>25164890
The computer I’m on makes me and everyone else that uses a retard so another loss for science
