Because he has too much pride to let AI write the mediocre shit that GRRM writes. Let's be honest here, everything Martin has taken from better authors has been diluted down into a supremely basic form. All the wit, depth, and poetry of Shakespeare (and his plays on the War of the Roses), the ridiculous idea of the Great Man Theory (Tolstoy conveys more sympathy for the common man than fucking GRRM does with kings and peasants), and the fantastical elements of Tolkien (Tolkien uses fairy tales as a means of healing and consolation, Martin uses it for horror and deception), and even Robert E Howard (Howard with his ancient model of a warrior in Conan, Martin, with his American liberal mindset, subverts this with King Robert being a fucking bum who lets the kingdom go to shit because GRRM has no spirit).Martin has no genuine or serious individual thought in this world (aside from not killing Vietnamese, which is moral). He has no belief in anything supernatural that can be observed in this world, and it shows in his writings. It all can be seen in the world of Westeros, with violence and deception being the norm (which is a reflection of our world), but hardly any mention of church, religion, faith, or community which has held the ancient world for thousands of years, and especially the medieval world for almost a millennia. He's just not a serious writer in any stretch of the imagination. It seriously baffles me how he doesn't use AI to finish his hollow writing; they're both perfect for each other. Yet, he thinks he holds some sort of reputable moral-grandstanding sway over not letting AI write for him? What the fuck is up with him?
He's waiting for Brandon Sanderson to volunteer to finish it.
