This book is extremely overrated.I understand people trying to look for wisdom in books like The Art of War, but this book is literally a manual for mediaeval ruling.I just finished it, and I think I enjoyed maybe 8 paragraphs (2 of which are about hitting women). How did this end up in philosophy reading lists?

>>25170889It's only on phil reading lists because it introduces a certain sociopathic perspective that was a novel way of thinking to be disseminated at the time and for a while after.Nowadays it's just common practiceAnd as with most books that we know about from 200+ years ago, there weren't many of them, so most anyone who could afford to print and had some familiar or political push was read and pushed as cannon. It's a boring book
