This book is extremely overrated.
I understand people trying to look for wisdom in books like The Art of War, but this book is literally a manual for mediaeval ruling.
I just finished it, and I think I enjoyed maybe 8 paragraphs (2 of which are about hitting women).

How did this end up in philosophy reading lists?

Political philosophy is a thing you know

Anyways, look up the Dictators Handbook I guess.

I read Jordanes' book about the Goths, and despite it being mostly "we wuz", it was far better than The Price.

It's only on phil reading lists because it introduces a certain sociopathic perspective that was a novel way of thinking to be disseminated at the time and for a while after.
Nowadays it's just common practice
And as with most books that we know about from 200+ years ago, there weren't many of them, so most anyone who could afford to print and had some familiar or political push was read and pushed as cannon.
It's a boring book

I did learn a bit about that specific time in Italy, though. Not sure how much of it was real and how much was made up by him.

it's more relevant in being a herald to politics/leadership without a god aspect to it

Why would you want to read the edgy sequel to ‘The Little Prince’?
