People should post more single pages from the books they're reading. I enjoyed that Mieville one. Of course I'm not gonna trudge through fantasy drivel, but it's fine for a page.
>>25171156I feel like if he ever raped anyone it would be a situation like the rape in Speedboat, which is not the sort of rape you mean and completely meaningless to you. Here is a page with a lot of killing, seems like your sort of thing.

>>25171255Probably not very accurate, there is definitely a duality about him but I don't think other people play into it much and the separation is between when he is in the midst of a project and when it is done and he has not yet started on the next. >>25171398Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. It is quite good but not at all a fun happy book, he is trying to write a novel that really gets across what 9/11 was like, and he does it better than anyone else that I have read. Probably the most emotional book I have read, pretty much 100% feels and he never falls back onto simple emotional appeals or remember whenning or the like, it is all very complex and difficult emotion.
