>Write 1st person story jumping between other people's assumptions constantly
>this is considered fair game and a mark of incredible social understanding

>Write 3rd person omniscient style establishing personal dispositions for various characters
>get accused of head hopping

How did this happen? How is the style of retards and toddlers being given a free pass while the style that has omniscience in its title become the target of every post-modern editor? Are they stupid or something?

Why doesn't the narrator know the future?
The latter ought to lead to the narrator being a character himself. Does the narrator become self aware that he's observing a world he can observe but not change? What if he says what he just said differently? Can he unmake his own narration and save her?
