The people who read this slop have more kids than the people who read Tolstoy. Simply as a matter of biological selection, Dinniman readers will replace Tolstoy readers and, over the centuries and millennia, elevate Dungeon Crawler Carl well above Ana Karenina in the canon. Fuck around (with fertility), and find out.

>>25175123It's fun slop. Deal with it, chud.
After I finish reading Blood Meridian, I just don't go and start another book like Gravity's Rainbow right on, I would read something like DCC to decompress and then get on with more serious stuff
>>25176332>>25176359You know it's possible to read smth of substance while still keeping it relatively "light," right?
>>25176371Dungeon Crawler Carl is full of substance.
4chan is reddit
>>25176375I fucking doubt it.
DCC is meant to be consumed via audiobook. posting w/ the print image is performative. what a fucking pseud this faggot OP is
>tfw no scolopendra gfWhy live?
wouldnt say its reddit. reddit would have some pretence towards depth and left-wing political messaging. its just mcdonalds tier entertainment.
>>25175133Wouldn't that also imply that Tolstoy was the Dinniman of his day and the Tolstoy of Tolstoy's day was some author forgotten because his fans didn't breed.
>>25175123The only book I couldn't finish in the past few years. Even when something is awful, I'll finish it so I can definitively say it sucks. Only started it because a couple coworkers begged me to give it a try. I couldn't even get halfway through this shit, a book has never made me physically cringe until this. I got it free from Kindle Unlimited, so no big loss, but boy did it destroy my recommendations.

>>25176395> Tolstoy of Tolstoy's day was some author forgotten because his fans didn't breed. His name was Pushkin

I have been slowly warming to litrpg, but something about that particular book rubs me the wrong way.

It's a great book scorned by affluent sheltered normalfags who grew up in bliss and cannot understand bad circumstances and events happening to other people.
I was given the first four books for Christmas. Thought it was kinda shit at first but once the actual development kicked in I started liking it. Please upvote me XD.

I liked it. The audiobook is kino.
>>25175123I tried to read it and made it about 4 or 5 pages before I stopped. I really kept thinking "this is pure distilled Reddit in book form" when I was reading it.
>>25177966You just need to get through the first 3000 or so pages and this changes completely
>>25177966>>25177973My inappropriately sincere response is that you need to keep reading until after Carl and Donut con their way through their first partied encounter. That's when it gets some personality. If you can tolerate that, then stick with the books until something interesting happens outside the dungeon. Can't remember if that's book 1 or 2. At that point you'll either like or or hate it. If you like it then it gets really good as the series goes on.I don't really get the reddit thing. It's not nearly as smarmy as Project Hail Mary, even if Mary's plot is the more realistic of the two.
>>25177966trvke.
So is Samantha some sort of dungeon incarnation of the Apothecary/real-world Apito? What's her deal?
>>25176395In monogamy everyone gets a wife and children (except the mwntally ill or the physically disabled). We have only moved out of monogamy very recently.
Yeah
>>25175123Unironically convince me why I shouldn't lobotomize myself at this point. I can't take it. I feel like the black guy in American Fiction.
>>25176103NTA I have. But one man's idiot is another man's genius. It doesn't help that intelligence always inversely correlates with reproductive success. You're gonna just try to step up your game.
>>25176387>left wing>deepCommies can't into metaphysics
>>25178011Actually the mentally disabled should have kids
>>25177960People say that but Donut's audio voice is unlistenable. It's like a Monty Python impression of a woman. I don't know why some people say it's their favorite part of the audiobook.
>>25178022Is this what is meant by that line about the meek inheriting the Earth or something? I don't know enough about scripture, nor do I care to go look it up right now, but it sounds like that.
>>25178115I don't mind it. For me it fits the talking cat's voice being stupid.
>>25176467Fantastic, I'll just read what I assume to be in the realm of 1000 pages minimum of utter slop in order to find out if I end up so brain damaged by the end that I begin to enjoy it in some perverted sort of way

Someone explain to me what's wrong with it. I don't read litrpg or modern sci-fi so I can't tell if Carl is part of some bigger picture that's lost on me. I thought the series was interesting and funny.
>>25180208What year would you select as the beginning of "modern" sci-fi/fantasy?
>>251802291979 - Star Wars
>>25180208For one thing the author came out and said that they intentionally made it as propaganda to slowly nudge people farther left. For that reason alone I gave it a skip.
Have video games had positive influence on anything? It seems like their popularity has just made everything a little worse.
>>25175123My girlfriend read some of this, it sounded fun.
People will clown on me for this, but I lost respect for him not supporting a draft in the US to help our allies fight Iran.
I know I dislike having to visit reddit for theorycrafting and plot discussion because nobody talks about the fucking books here.
