Philosophy of Flamenco books? Specifically philosophy: not history or art of flamenco.
>>25176502They have a philosophy other than spearing cows to impress ugly women?
dunno problem is, that a lot is not written down and it has mostly an oral tradition, think your best bet is learning spanish and listen to the lyrics of the songs, or maybe some poets that are intertwined with flamenco like federico garcia lopez. Maybe they have some essays on it. Generally some bohemian and gypsy stuff maybe? But i still think that everything they wanna say they say through the flamenco art.Do you play, sing or dance? Maybe that will bring you closer to understanding it. You cant explain duende, you got to experience itBless paco pena, all i gotta say>>25176511shut your whore mouth you stupid bitch

>>25176502>Philosophy of Flamenco books?>Specifically philosophy: not history or art of flamenco. There's an essay: Teoria y juego del Duende, by Federico Garcia Lorca

Amazing how /lit/ can actually discuss these super niche topics but Pynchon threads turn to shit after about five posts...>>25176511>ugly womenYou may have done what I did and subconciously equated 'Spanish' with 'Mexico' or 'Guatemala' because of the language (if you're American like me). When I did my studies in the UK and traveled around Europe, Spanish women were consistently the most beautiful. The ceiling might be higher in Sweden or whatever, but the quantity of stunningly beautiful women and the quality of the average woman is just so much higher in Spain than anywhere else.
>>25176901very nice for pulling that up anon, thanksdropping one of my fav songs as thread themehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2q8qZJ4eo8has nice poetry too
>>25176915Not that Anon, but I'm a Mexican and I associate Spanish women with a very specific square-jaw look that I also associate Irish people and white MtF porn actresses with. There's a lot of women who look like that here in Mexico too, but I just think of them as secretely hiding a Y-chromosome. I just see a name like "Arantza" or "María del Pilar" and I start thinking, "Yep, she prolly got a peener inside o' dem panties". idk if it's because of the WHG/ANF ancestry or what, but I just can't get the idea of my head that those jaws are just a sign of having too much testosterone and not enough estrogen.
>>25176915>>25177308For instance, this is the stereotypical Spanish woman-that-looks-suspicuously-MtF I'm talking about.
>>25176915>You may have done what I did and subconciously equated 'Spanish' with 'Mexico' or 'Guatemala' because of the languageNo I just know what Spanish gypsy women look like. Sounds like you're not done not knowing shit about the outside world.

hijacking, because i wouldnt dare to post an actual music-related topic on /mu/, but how the fuck do i find other people who are interested in flamenco when im in a middle-sized-city not in spain, im reasonably good on guitar now, but i just dont have any fieldexperience, so im probably actually pretty shit if i have to accompy a dancer or a singer, but im so sick of playing alone
>>25178871That's tough buddy. Thoughts and prayers!
Spain is underrated.
>>25178871do you want us to go out and live life for you?
There is a small section on flamenco in Derek Bailey's "Improvisation: its nature and practice in music." I think that the field of critical improvisation studies might be the right track for you.
